🚀 Learning with NotebookLM NotebookLM has truly transformed my approach to learning and information synthesis. While tools like Obsidian excel at capturing ideas and creating a "second brain," NotebookLM stands out as a game-changer in organizing curated content. Recently, I imported my OneNote notes from a Google Advanced Analytics & Machine Learning course into NotebookLM. The outcome was remarkable: NotebookLM produced a 35-minute podcast where two AI hosts engaged in a natural conversation based on my notes. The authenticity of the content was preserved, leaving no room for hallucination. What's even more remarkable is the interactive feature of the podcast. You have the opportunity to participate in discussions with the AI hosts in real-time, enhancing the learning experience significantly. Picture this: input a collection of articles, videos, or class notes, and receive a condensed mind map along with a personalized podcast instantaneously. This goes beyond simple Q&A; it's a collaborative creation process for learners. The potential for NotebookLM extends to students, educators, and individuals dedicated to continuous learning. Could tools like this redefine our approach to learning? Share your thoughts on this innovative learning tool! ✨ #NotebookLM #AI #Education #Learning #MachineLearning #PersonalizedLearning

What if we’re doing all the right work, but doing it the wrong way? That’s the question Robyn Jackson raised in a recent podcast episode. And it’s one I keep coming back to as we explore how AI and UDL can transform classrooms. Teachers aren’t resisting change. They’re resisting disappointment. Too often, AI is introduced with shallow prompts and surface-level use cases. “Just throw it into ChatGPT” isn’t enough. Teachers try it, don’t see the payoff, and move on, not because they don’t care, but because they’ve been burned by big promises before. This week on Substack, I explore: - Why AI + UDL integration often stalls - How the Lippitt-Knoster model explains what’s missing - What it looks like when teachers are trusted to prototype, not just comply Spoiler: When we align vision, skills, resources, and trust, amazing things happen. Let’s stop asking teachers to plug in and start asking them to lead. Let's connect and would love to share ideas and build together! We build better systems by starting with ourselves. #AIinEducation #UDL #TeacherLeadership #SystemsThinking #ModularCoaching #EdTech #Leadership #RobynJackson #ChangeManagement

🧮 Menu vs Scale 🗃️ This podcast is a regular listen, and I have academic respect for this episode's guest. But I was left confused - not sure how to put advice into action. I also strongly dislike Disney. The ongoing attachment of AI Use to assessment may be a disservice to learning. Why can't we weave the relevant use of (gen)AI tools into the learning processes but not allow in the assessment through motivation of productive grit? And if one's response is 'formative vs summative', then is the application of AI in the rubric? And is this reflected in the (unit) learning outcomes. I think Danny Liu connects to this at 43min mark. In my direct teaching role, I have two classes with different views of using genAI in their work - one class welcomes my suggestions for generating content, the other refuses to use the tools and asks for alternatives for creating content. I can't tie application of (gen)AI tools into assessment otherwise one group is disadvantaged? But I could still create a 'menu to taste-test' in the learning activities. But even with a great 'menu' of genAI tools relevant to the subject, the delivery of those items/menu depends on the waitstaff and chef - right? And may be why the 'scale' is so attractive at the moment - it's a weighing up of options. Right now, many professionals who are subject experts and well-versed in the lecture to tutorial delivery of content are quickly having to upskill in learning design (waitstaff). Plus, they also need to explore which AI and genAI tools are applicable to industry for their subject and then integrate these to learning activities within the program design (chef). And then they need to know how to 'detect' misuse of genAI (maître-d?) So, a 'scale' works for now and puts the onus on the student to comply (or bring their own lunch within the rules). We don't use a 'menu' nor 'scale' in UniPrep Schools - neither fit context I don't even have a metaphor for what we do I still love this podcast Bonni Stachowiak https://lnkd.in/gmfnuyfb #aimenu #aiscale #assessment #learningactivities
