Purchasing Agent

We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team on a contract basis in Sacramento, California. In this role, you will oversee procurement activities, ensuring the timely acquisition of materials, services, and supplies necessary for operations. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate with various departments and vendors to optimize purchasing strategies and maintain inventory accuracy while driving cost-saving initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Generate and manage purchase orders for raw materials, hardware components, operational supplies, and detail-oriented services.
• Maintain system parameters such as lead times, reorder points, and inventory levels to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee supplier relationships, addressing past-due orders, open order reports, and vendor returns.
• Collaborate with suppliers and the Purchasing Manager to secure on-time delivery, competitive pricing, and high-quality products.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and explore low-cost markets.
• Resolve discrepancies in price, quantity, and quality with suppliers, ensuring smooth operations.
• Monitor inventory control processes, coordinate with suppliers, and track materials.
• Expedite orders and services when necessary to meet operational needs.
• Work closely with internal departments, including Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Accounting, to enhance product availability, improve service levels, and address invoice issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential vendors to support procurement goals.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement roles.
• Proficiency in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and inventory management.
• Skilled in using Microsoft NAV, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage vendor relationships effectively.
• Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficient purchasing strategies.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to support organizational objectives.
