Private Equity Associate

Overview

Our client is a leading private equity firm with more than $1B in assets under management and a strong record of successful investing. The firm is seeking a Private Equity Associate to join its Portland-based team with a dedicated focus on software. The Associate will be directly involved in sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investments while also supporting portfolio companies in their growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Research software markets and subsectors to identify and develop new investment themes
• Build and maintain financial models to evaluate potential opportunities and support decision-making
• Lead and support workstreams across the deal lifecycle, including diligence, structuring, and execution
• Prepare investment committee materials and present analysis to senior leadership
• Partner with portfolio company management to drive value creation initiatives and track performance
• Contribute to strategic planning and exit readiness processes

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in software-focused investment banking or private equity/investing (required)
• Advanced financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills
• Demonstrated success in transaction execution and due diligence
• Strong interest in the software sector, with an understanding of its growth drivers and dynamics
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
• Bachelor’s degree required
