Process Control Engineer – GCL and Drainage Technology
Position Overview:
The Regional Process Control Engineer for GCL and drainage technology will provide specialized technical expertise in process control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for Solmax’s geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) and drainage product lines. This role supports multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring optimal process performance, product quality, and operational efficiency. The engineer will work closely with plant operations, R&D, and quality teams to standardize processes, drive innovation, and resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical process control support for GCL and drainage manufacturing operations across the AMS region.
Troubleshoot process and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain quality standards.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Develop, optimize, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for GCL and drainage processes.
Partner with R&D on new product trials, scale-up activities, and process validations.
Lead process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing throughput, reducing waste, and improving consistency.
Train plant personnel on process control best practices and new equipment or process changes.
Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements in all process control activities.
Support capital project planning and execution related to GCL and drainage lines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in geosynthetics, polymer processing, or similar manufacturing environments.
Strong understanding of process control systems, troubleshooting methods, and quality assurance practices.
Proven ability to analyze data and implement process optimization strategies.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to travel up to 50–70% to manufacturing sites in the AMS region.
Preferred Skills:
Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), or equivalent continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT, AI, and machine learning in manufacturing.
Working Conditions:
This position requires frequent travel to various plant locations across the region, with an emphasis on hands-on support and process improvement.
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, heat, and heavy machinery.
Flexible working hours may be required to support plant operations and address critical issues in real-time.
