The Role

We are looking to fill our Operations Manager role to help manage our cultivation facilities from propagation to sale. We are seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented leader who is passionate about empowering, developing, and managing our on-site team(s). The ideal candidate will have proven management experience in a highly dynamic setting. Organizational, communication, and leadership skills need to be second to none and he/she needs to enjoy developing solutions that push innovative boundaries. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Operations Director & executive team to strategize and develop longer-term plans that usher in new levels of productivity and success. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that the facility operates at peak efficiency by coaching and developing teams, setting goals, supporting departments and their leaders, and helping achieve set goals including problem solving in the most effective and efficient way. The Operations Manager is also responsible for making sure company standard operating procedures are up to date and followed, company labor and hiring practices are adhered to, and timelines are strictly enforced.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate all operations of a cultivation facility from grow to sale including Grow Operations, Fulfillment Operations, and Sales
  • Champion of our company culture and steward of employee and leadership development
  • Work with inventory team to make sure product integrity is maintained, we are using FIFO to stage product, and the product
  • Work closely with the production team to evaluate efficiency, monitor processes and make adjustments as necessary, keep the production team focused on goals, and ensure the team stays on time and on task.
  • Assist in leading the operation with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
  • Manage adherence of all company policies, SOPs, and expectations, facilitating training, tracking, and enforcement throughout all departments
  • Ensure operation upholds all policies, SOPs, and expectations through regular operation staff meetings, grow walk-throughs, audits, and monthly one on one meetings with department heads
  • Ensure company compliance with all applicable regulations including cannabis laws
  • Drive improvements of all policies, SOPs, and expectations through continuous improvement practices
  • Liaising with departmental heads to develop financial plans and ensure company-wide operational compliance
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the facility and team, working with each department head for overall operation management and ensuring operation runs at peak efficiency with minimal to no roadblocks or obstacles
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes that provide visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles for our key initiatives
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for the day-to-day performance of the operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
  • Maintain strong and healthy working relationship and effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders including operation customers, vendors, C-Suite, central support staff including Talent and Culture Division, project partners, and on-site department heads (Cultivation Manager, Fulfillment Manager, Sales Manager, Administrative, and Construction & Maintenance Manager) to make decisions regarding operation activity and strategic goals
  • Execute new growth directives
  • Perform all other duties as necessary to ensure the facility’s success and anything assigned by direct supervisor


Indicators of Success

  • Positive, engaged, and motivated managers and team members
  • Pulse on maintaining a low turnover rate thru quality of hire, recognition, training & development, and pay for performance initiatives align to our company culture
  • Minimized unplanned labor fluctuations
  • No downtime due to consumable stock or equipment downtime
  • Consistent increases in plant weights and quality demonstrated through staff and grow development and SOP adhesion and improvements
  • Projections achieved including but not limited to grow room downtime, strain weights per month, trimmed weight per week, and sales per week
  • Predictability of labor and expenses for both cost as well as inventory control
  • Cleanliness and organization of facility
  • Key capital improvements are prioritized and outlined to COO for ongoing facility upkeep and improvement
  • Facility in strong legal standing with accurate compliance and proper licensing and documentation available onsite where needed
  • Ensures proper delivery of on time and quality-controlled orders to customers


Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field (preferred)
  • 10+ years leadership role in a similar or same field
  • Masterful organizational, communication, and leadership skills demonstrated by previous professional success
  • Knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational process for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legislative guidelines
  • Strong organizational abilities and can manage multiple work streams at once
  • Ability to manage a team of staff members during normal business hours in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to set and meet commitments and deliver results in a fast-paced ever-changing environment
  • Strong people and presentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exemplary track record of high impact contributions both as an individual and in a management capacity
  • Ability to maintain and demonstrate a positive, problem-solving attitude at all times
  • Experience managing all employee related issues in compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulations
  • Possess key leaderships qualities including integrity, accountability, empathy, humility, resilience, vision, and influence
  • Ability to inspire teams to do things the never thought they could do
  • Be a reliable role model for the facility, bringing a positive attitude day in and day out and setting an example
  • Marijuana product knowledge and passion is a plus, but not required
  • Experience in manufacturing environment or lean manufacturing principles is a plus, but not required


Additional Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older to apply
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
