Morris Heating & Cooling was founded in 1996 and focuses on the installation, servicing, repair, and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, refrigeration and kitchen systems in the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana markets.
In June of 2024, the company partnered with NextGen Growth Partners as they enter the next phase of their growth journey. NextGen Growth Partners was founded in Chicago in 2016 on the belief that there is tremendous potential to unlock value in small businesses. Morris has quickly grown since entering its partnership, scaling to nearly 70 total employees, with more than 50 skilled technicians serving the greater Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana regions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Morris Heating & Cooling is entering an exciting stage of growth and seeking a Board Member with deep operational expertise to help guide the company forward. The ideal candidate will have proven experience guiding companies through growth and operational scaling, with preference for experience in commercial HVAC, kitchen equipment, electrical, or adjacent trade services.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have operated in scaled businesses, ideally within a private equity-backed environment. The role calls for strong operational insight, a practical understanding of growth dynamics, and the ability to partner with leadership to execute growth plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide strategic oversight and guidance to the leadership team
· Leverage operational expertise to advise on scaling processes, systems, and people
· Support executive decision-making on capital allocation, growth strategies, and operational efficiency
· Serve as a thought partner to management in driving customer satisfaction, workforce development, and market expansion
· Draw on experience in trade services (e.g., HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen systems) or adjacent industries to provide market insights
· Participate in regular board meetings and serve as an active advisor in between sessions, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Proven track record of senior leadership with full P&L responsibility in a scaled trade services business
· Experience scaling a company in a private equity-backed context
· Strong operational background in commercial services, trades, or related industries (HVAC, kitchen equipment, electrical, facilities services, etc.)
· Demonstrated ability to mentor and support management teams
· High integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style
