Description
The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a 9-month, renewable, non-tenure track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Microbiology, ideally beginning January 1, 2026. We seek a dedicated educator with a strong interest in undergraduate microbiology instruction. Candidates with expertise in bacterial physiology and/or applied and environmental microbiology are especially encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities during the academic year will include teaching in-person undergraduate courses with medium to large enrollments. These may include:
Bacterial Physiology
Introductory Microbiology
One to two additional courses aligned with the candidate's expertise
Additional Responsibilities Include
Designing and delivering effective course content
Assessing student learning and providing constructive feedback
Utilizing the Canvas learning management system
Holding regular office hours to support student success
Collaborating with colleagues to continuously improve the undergraduate experience

Summer courses (on-campus, online, or study abroad)
Lecturers are expected to participate in departmental service and engage in the broader academic life of the Department. The Department supports professional development and growth through the Lecturer promotion track (Lecturer → Senior Lecturer → Principal Lecturer).
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Microbiology or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.
