Role Description

The International Income Tax Manager is responsible for review of international tax returns and updates to technical models, such as Foreign-Derived Intangible Income (FDII), Global Intangible Low Tax Income (GILTI), Subpart F, and Foreign Tax Credit (FTC). The International Income Tax Manager will also be responsible for review of foreign country income tax provisions and ASC 740 Uncertain Tax Position calculations. Areas of responsibility may also include review of all aspects of federal and state tax returns and reporting, assistance with federal and state audits, reconciliations of tax accounts, and other research as it relates to Costco’s tax filings. The International Income Tax Manager works independently and handles multiple projects and timelines simultaneously without supervision.


Job Duties/Essential Functions

●     Prepare and Review US outbound international tax compliance (i.e. Forms 5471, 8858, 1118, 8975, 8993)

●     Review income tax provisions for Costco’s foreign operations including UTP calculations and related tax footnote disclosures.

●     Support the tax director in OECD regulatory and compliance requirements.

●     Review of Federal and state tax returns.

●     Ensures timely and accurate preparation of forms and schedules as they relate to the tax function.

●     Acquires tax technical knowledge by researching federal and state tax issues and documenting conclusions.

●     Manages information document requests from Federal and state taxing jurisdictions.

●     Manages the information gathering of documents to respond to internal and external auditor requests.

●     Assists with special projects and a variety of ad hoc tax research and analysis.

●     Provides training, development, and planning for staff.

●     Observes procedures and practices, actively looking for process improvements and makes recommendations for changes and new software implementations.

●     This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).

●     Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.


Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications

Required:

●     5-10 progressive years of corporate income tax experience with 3 years of international tax compliance experience.

●     Bachelor's Degree, with concentration in Accounting.

●     In-depth technical knowledge of US international tax law.

●     Masters in Tax from an accredited university preferred.

●     Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure in a stressful and deadline driven environment, and strive for excellence while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

●     Self-starter with the ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to meet goals and achieve results with a proven history of consistently meeting deadlines.

●     Extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency and flexibility to work longer hours when business needs arise.

●     Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, including ability to work successfully with all levels of management, staff, and our international partners.

●     Able to work effectively with third parties, such as external auditors, suppliers, or members.

●     Communicates clearly and effectively in verbal interactions and in business writing.

●     Excellent analytical skills, with appropriate attention to detail.

●     Strong understanding of accounting concepts.

●     High level of computer competency including Word, Excel, Google apps, SAP, OneStream, and OneSource software (or recent, comparable tax preparation software).
