The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for initiating, building, and maintaining customer relationships while managing sales opportunities from lead generation through order fulfillment. This role requires a balance of customer engagement, sales execution, and coordination across internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and company objectives are met.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Initiates, builds, and maintains customer relationships.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from ad inquiries, trade shows, direct mail responses, dealer resellers, business directories, Internet websites, and other sources.
Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
Makes outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and email to qualify leads and sell products and services.
Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.
Determines the markup for material, considering market conditions, competitor positions, market application, volume of order, packaging requirements, freight costs, and customer importance.
Determines where to source customer orders.
Decides whether to use floor-stock or production based on lead time expectations, product specifications, and market applications.
Establishes customer delivery dates in consideration of stock levels, product specifications, and logistics lead times.
Investigates and recommends responses to customer complaints regarding shipments and/or claims, potentially involving negotiation or review.
Decides how to respond to non-partner customer orders based on importance, stock levels, lead time, and demand. May decline opportunities or adjust order quantities.
Tracks stock levels.
Coordinates customer training.
Prepares reports on business transactions.
Manages contracts.
Analyzes customer forecasts and develops stock and release programs.
Recommends effective and efficient supply programs/contracts.
Works with Outside Sales Representatives to maintain account activities and up-to-date literature.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Three years of inside sales experience preferred.
Metal industry experience preferred.
U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required due to ITAR and EAR regulations.
