Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Job Summary

Responsible for teaching all levels and skills of ESL classes in the Intensive English Program (IEP) to students from diverse cultural, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds. Reviews and designs program curriculum and materials and prepares class assignments. Evaluates learning outcomes and advises IEP students for retention and or progression to KSU matriculation. Assists in program administration under the supervision of the IEP director. Fluency in a designated language may be required to assist students in the assigned program.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares lessons, conducts assessments and may teach up to 18 weekly contact class hours in IEP
  • May assist with new student orientation and placement testing
  • Attends a minimum of two IEP staff meetings per session
  • Teaches assigned contact class hours in the IEP per scheduling guidelines, classes may be assigned at any level and skill, instruction includes all lesson preparation, assessment, and student interaction
  • May review and designs program curriculum and materials
  • May advises prospective students and assist with IEP enrollment
  • May Advise IEP students for retention in the IEP and progression to KSU matriculation
  • Conducts end-of-session testing
  • Maintains adequate professional development and may lead occasional professional development workshops for other IEP instructors
  • May Participates in IEP cultural events and activities

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Required Experience

Six (6) months relevant work experience in an English language program

Additional Requirements

Internationally recognized TESOL certification (such as DELTA or CELTA) Current, valid and unrestricted driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

One (1) year of instructional experience in an international setting

Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field

Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Able to teach English language learners of all levels, and in all skill areas

Able to apply principles of second language pedagogy to the IEP curriculum, and design appropriate lesson plans, assessments, and syllabi

Able to communicate the mission, structure, and design of the program to students and other stakeholders

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of a second language

Skills

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Google suite)

Strong attention to detail and follow up skills

Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
