We are partnering with a rapidly expanding, multi-site specialty dental healthcare provider backed by a major private equity group. Headquartered on the West Coast, the company is scaling aggressively through both organic growth and acquisitions. As part of this growth, we are seeking a Director of Human Resources to help lead the evolution of the HR function and support scalable, people-first practices across the organization.

This is a newly created leadership role ideal for an experienced, hands-on HR professional who brings strategic thinking, strong field alignment, and the ability to scale core HR capabilities in a dynamic, multi-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the COO and senior leadership to shape and execute a long-term HR roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Act as a thought partner to influence and support key organizational decisions from a people and culture perspective.

Culture & Change Management

  • Promote a strong, unified culture across geographically dispersed teams and locations.
  • Lead change management and culture-building initiatives during periods of organizational growth and transformation.

M&A Integration

  • Support HR integration efforts during acquisitions, including org design, policy harmonization, and cultural onboarding.
  • Help build scalable HR practices across newly acquired businesses and ensure consistent employee experiences.

Talent Strategy & Development

  • Contribute to programs and initiatives in talent acquisition, onboarding, employee engagement, learning and development, and performance management.
  • Help shape a high-performance, growth-oriented culture through effective people strategies.

People Operations

  • Oversee core HR functions, including compensation, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and HRIS administration.
  • Drive consistency and efficiency in HR practices across field and clinic locations.

Field Support & Compliance

  • Serve as a resource and advisor to field leaders across California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving multi-state labor laws, with a strong emphasis on California employment regulations.

Team Collaboration

  • Mentor and partner with a small, distributed HR team.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing HR function focused on service excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles in multi-site or healthcare settings.
  • Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth environments is strongly preferred.
  • Proven success supporting distributed, field-based teams—especially in clinical, dental, or healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale HR infrastructure and lead change through rapid growth and acquisitions.
  • Deep knowledge of West Coast labor laws, with expertise in California compliance requirements.
  • Strong background in developing programs for culture, employee development, compliance, and performance management.
