Outstanding Controller opportunity with a respected national not for profit in the Philadelphia area. Are you an experienced Controller ready to join an organization that has a positive impact on individuals lives? We are seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting activities across two affiliated nonprofit entities. This is a confidential search for a mission-driven leader who brings expertise in GAAP, internal controls, budgeting, and nonprofit compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day accounting functions including A/P, A/R, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
Direct all aspects of internal and external financial reporting.
Coordinate annual financial statement audits and IRS Form 990 filings.
Oversee and enhance internal control systems, policies, and accounting processes.
Prepare and manage organizational and grant-specific budgets; monitor and report on variances.
Collaborate with leadership to support financial planning, analysis, and strategic initiatives.
Supervise and mentor a small accounting team.
Liaise with external partners such as auditors and legal counsel regarding compliance and regulatory filings.
Maintain and update the organization’s accounting manual and systems as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA required.
Minimum of 5 years of non profit Controllership experience, including nonprofit financial reporting and compliance.
Demonstrated experience leading audits, preparing financial statements, and managing budgets.
Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems; experience implementing or improving systems a plus.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
