SECTR Partners is currently seeking a Chief Information Officer to join a PE backed Ophthalmology & Optometry organization.


Job Summary:

The CIO/CISO is a visionary executive driving IT and cybersecurity strategies to support the organization’s mission of delivering managed services to optometry and ophthalmology practices. This leader oversees technology and security operations, ensuring scalability and compliance during expansion and M&A. Highly inquisitive, they leverage AI and data analytics to align with business goals, managing in-house VPs and application/security teams while outsourcing low-level roles and overseeing third-party vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic IT Leadership: Develop IT strategy for growth and M&A, integrating EMR/EHR and health tech with minimal disruption. Adopt AI and emerging technologies for clinical efficiency and data-driven decisions.
  • Cybersecurity & Risk Management: Lead HIPAA-compliant security programs, risk assessments, incident response, and staff training. Monitor threats and ensure rapid breach response.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage IT operations, infrastructure, vendor relationships, and budgets. Oversee third-party vendors and report KPIs on performance and security.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Guide VPs and teams in applications and security, fostering strong team culture. Support business goals and lead tech integration for new practice partnerships.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years in healthcare IT leadership, 5+ in senior executive roles, with M&A experience.
  • Expertise in HIPAA, HITECH, NIST CSF, and EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Compulink, Nextech).
  • Certifications: CISSP, CISM, or CHCIO preferred.
  • Strong data analytics, AI utilization, and team-building skills.
  • Visionary leadership with business acumen and change management expertise.
