The Camp Director reports to the Executive Director and works on the development, implementation, and supervision of all key aspects of camping including camp 365 programs, special events, budgeting, and staff recruitment. The Camp Director provides leadership of the Camp, including but not limited to, administration, coordination, and supervision of all functions within the organization in accordance with the values, vision, and mission.
Administration
Design, implement and evaluate camp programs that meet the needs and interests of the camps target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner
Develop and implement yearly recruitment strategies to increase camper enrollment
Manage travel programs including negotiating contracts and developing trip itineraries
Provide Fiscal management and oversight of camp budget
Develop vision and strategies for summer and year-round camp offerings by assessing competition, determining strategic opportunities, and mirroring them with the mission of the J
Track camper retention for maximum enrollment
Manage inspections and yearly permits to ensure camp compliance
Coordination:
Communicate with parents on events, open houses, registration, forms & payments
Liaise with parents to resolve any major problems or proactive goal setting or camp plans
Assist in opening and closing of camp with pre-camp staff and contracted vendors
Develop camp committee and maintain strong year-round relationships
Work with the ED with planning and execution of all camp fundraising initiatives
Assist in presentations for agency meetings such as board, leadership, finance
Collaborate with the Creative Director on fliers, brochures, and other promotional materials as well as communications including social media, email and websites.
Attend JCC events, department meetings and community events as needed. Some nights and weekends required.
Supervision:
Recruit, hire and train staff
Develop and schedule staff training sessions & parent orientations
Supervise Leadership Team members and meet regularly to review goals
Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where every participant is treated with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized manner
Serve as a resource and role model for campers and staff on all camp-related issues
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
5+ years of day camp experience in a supervisory role
Experience managing youth or family programs
Experience in creating and managing program budgets
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate information clearly (both written and oral)
Extremely organized and detailed oriented; Ability to work with tight deadlines
Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working in a non-profit environment
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse group that includes JCC staff, parents, lay leaders, children and the public
Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and community, and previous experience in Jewish programming.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Suite, required. Knowledge of DonorPerfect and Campsite, preferred.
Salary:
$65,000 - $75,000
