Job Overview

We are seeking a Business Development Professional with a strong background in electrical and mechanical engineering to drive the sales of data center solutions. This role involves selling high-performance products critical to data center infrastructure, including electrical systems, cooling systems, power distribution units (PDUs), racks, and related mechanical solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge and exceptional sales ability to build relationships with data center operators, IT managers, and infrastructure decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation & Sales Development:
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the data center industry, focusing on electrical and mechanical engineering products.
  • Target clients such as data center operators, cloud providers, telecommunications companies, and large enterprises.
  • Develop a pipeline of leads and ensure ongoing communication with prospects to advance sales opportunities.
  • Technical Sales Consultation:
  • Provide expert guidance on the selection of electrical and mechanical products for data center environments, including power distribution, backup power (UPS), thermal management (cooling systems), racks, and cable management.
  • Work closely with clients to assess their technical needs and propose tailored engineering solutions.
  • Deliver engaging product presentations, technical demonstrations, and detailed proposals to clients.
  • Relationship Building:
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders including data center managers, engineers, and procurement teams.
  • Offer continuous support to customers, understanding their evolving needs and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling complementary solutions.
  • Sales Process & Proposal Management:
  • Develop and present custom quotes and proposals based on client requirements and specifications.
  • Work with internal engineering teams to ensure all proposed solutions are technically sound and feasible.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts while ensuring alignment with company goals and profitability.
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis:
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in the data center market, such as energy efficiency, sustainability, and green certifications.
  • Regularly monitor competitors’ products and pricing to develop competitive strategies.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team based on customer needs and market demand.
  • Sales Reporting & Forecasting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, including customer interactions, sales forecasts, and project status using CRM tools.
  • Regularly report on sales progress, trends, and potential challenges to the Sales Manager.
  • Track and measure performance against sales targets and KPIs.
  • Project Support & Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely product delivery and execution of data center projects.
  • Provide post-sales support by assisting with the implementation and troubleshooting of products as necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. A strong technical foundation is essential.
  • Certifications or training related to data centers (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI, ASHRAE) are a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of [X] years of experience in technical sales or business development, specifically within the data center or infrastructure sector.
  • A proven track record of selling engineering products, systems, or services, preferably within electrical and mechanical systems for data centers.
  • Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution systems (PDUs, UPS), cooling systems, racks, cable management, and other mechanical solutions.
  • Knowledge of power electronics including converters, inverters, rectifiers, and energy storage systems.
  • Experience in AC/DC power conversion, high-voltage systems, and electrification technologies.
  • Understanding of V&V methodologies and simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, Altium, and EMTP-RV. Knowledge of data center power infrastructure, including UPS systems, PDUs, and thermal management.
  • Experience in electrical panel engineering, covering LV/MV switchgear, control panels, and compliance standards (IEC/UL).
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple, clear manner to clients.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills, with experience managing large contracts and complex sales cycles.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), MS Office Suite, and sales reporting tools.
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both technical and non-technical.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a consultative sales approach.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working directly with data center engineers, IT professionals, or facility managers.
  • Knowledge of data center sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, ISO 50001).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and certifications related to electrical and mechanical systems in data centers.
