We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our Factory Automation and PLC Services Team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical experience in Factory Automation Systems and Controls, including PLC/HMI, Edge Device for IIoT/I4.0, and SCADA systems. This role involves the development, delivery, and commissioning of PLC-based control systems and solutions for industrial customers. The Automation Engineer will collaborate closely with the Project Technical Lead Engineer to ensure adherence to technical standards and deliver high-quality services. Additionally, the role includes providing aftermarket support, maintaining existing control strategies, and assisting with process optimization projects.
Responsibilities
Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs used to control both OEM skids and custom process equipment.
Configure SCADA solutions and local Historians, and integrate with third-party systems such as Emerson’s DeltaV DCS & OSI PI.
Develop system documentation, including functional requirements and detailed design specifications for various process control applications.
Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), along with start-up and commissioning activities at customer sites.
Travel approximately 25% within North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Develop scope and specification documentation for new station equipment installations, including control panels and station instrumentation.
Review vendor-provided design packages to ensure compliance with design requirements.
Collaborate with contractors for panel and equipment installations.
Migrate existing PLC programming to Emerson Rx3i, including configurations and logic files.
Perform GE iFIX control database modifications and graphic developments as needed.
Conduct Power and Grounding checks and I&I, and collaborate with plant personnel and contractors for loop checks, final testing, and startup support.
Maintain station I/O lists and drawings during system checkout and commissioning.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Automation, Rockwell, and HMI technologies.
Experience in configuring and maintaining PLCs and SCADA systems.
Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Capability to configure integrations with third-party systems like Emerson’s DeltaV DCS & OSI PI.
Experience in developing system documentation and participating in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests.
Willingness to travel approximately 25% to client sites (all in NC)

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
