Base pay range

$197,100.00/yr - $215,000.00/yr
is responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives across all areas of the business. This position provides C-level management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation. General Counsel also serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors and participates in Board Audit Committee meetings. Prefer candidate local to Iowa.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serves as the lead lawyer/legal advisor on all legal and regulatory matters affecting the company and/or its affiliates.
  • Ensures company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and works closely with business team to develop policies, practices and guidelines, as necessary.
  • Builds and leads the legal team in alignment with the strategy and resources of the business.
  • Provides legal perspectives on strategic aspects of the company, including mergers & acquisitions, risk mitigation, business structure, compliance, legal defense, intellectual property and other legal areas.
  • Identifies and manages external counsel as needed by the company ensuring effective, efficient and quality advice and execution.
  • Ensures the preparation, review and negotiation of documents for complex transactions, state relationships, and vendor agreements.
  • Accountable for establishing and managing the Legal budget. Identifies opportunities for improvements in resource allocation, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • All other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring To The Table

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school in the United States.
  • Admitted to a state bar within the United States and in good standing.
  • 10+ years' experience in a law firm or corporate environment practicing within a relevant legal area; in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience within a highly regulated industry preferred
  • Proven people leader with experience managing other attorneys and supervising support staff.
  • Experience providing guidance and recommendations to C-Suite leaders.
