COMPANY OVERVIEW

Project Healthy Minds is a mental health tech non-profit startup. They are pioneering a first-of-its-kind model by applying technology to address one of the biggest social issues of our time—the growing mental health crisis. Project Healthy Minds believes in a simple but profound idea: it should be as easy to find mental health services as it is to book a flight or a restaurant reservation. That’s why they are building the world’s first digital marketplace for finding mental health services. The nonprofit aggregates the full spectrum of mental health services—including meditation, mindfulness, therapy, psychiatry, peer-to-peer support, community support groups, and crisis lines—and then helps visitors find the right help based on their emotional health needs.

To do that, Project Healthy Minds works with some of the most inspiring and influential leaders in America—business titans, tech entrepreneurs, clinicians and scientists, musicians, artists, athletes, media stars, policymakers, and more. Project Healthy Minds is backed by high-profile and passionate funders including Carson Daly; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle; Arthur Blank, Owner of the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Co-Founder of Home Depot; Stephen Ross, Owner of the Miami Dolphins and Founder & Executive Chairman of The Related Companies; Lisa Stone Pritzker; Tony Pritzker; Kalen Irsay Jackson, Owner & Vice Chair of the Indianapolis Colts; and companies including BlackRock, Comcast/NBCUniversal, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, NASDAQ, RBC, Harry’s, KPMG, L’Oréal, Peloton, Pfizer, and LVMH.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Mental Health is a global epidemic affecting more than 615 million people worldwide, which is the equivalent of the total populations of the United States, Canada, Mexico, UK, and France combined. It’s especially present here in the United States where 65 million Americans are diagnosed with a mental health condition (that’s 4x’s the amount of people diagnosed with cancer), and yet 60% never get mental health support. There are three drivers of this "treatment gap": (1) the stigmatization of the health topic, (2) people don’t know where/how to access care, and (3) insurance constraints and a workforce shortage preclude too many people from being able to afford care. Project Healthy Minds is on a mission to remove the stigma that prevents those suffering through mental illness through partnering with culture-makers and public figures as well as creating the first-ever mental health marketplace that is a free, consumer-friendly, one-stop digital referral platform that aims to increase access to care by making it fast and easy to find and navigate available resources.
