Summary
The Transportation Brokerage Manager manages the daily transportation operations within their division. The Transportation Brokerage Manager leads a team of Supervisors and hourly associates to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. The Manager assists the Director of Transportation with development and planning for strategic growth of the department. The Manager is accountable for performing his/her duties consistent with the values and mission of the corporation.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic policies to drive profitable growth in order to deliver company goals.
- Manage departmental budget and P&L, keeping expenses under control to deliver the operating plan.
- Lead and develop a team of associates while maintaining accountability to company policies.
- Must become a systems super user and drive efficiencies through systemic improvements.
- Establish a Lean culture and drive impactful results.
- Work diligently with various Saddle Creek warehousing, transportation, and support associates to deliver near flawless execution to our customer base.
- Develop strong relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors in a manner that supports Saddle Creek’s core values.
- Assist with administrative duties to ensure receivables and payables are properly allocated to keep clean financials.
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding transportation operations.
- Directly supervises associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and minimum 2 years experience; or minimum 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
