About us

The Y is Seattle’s founding nonprofit organization, offering health, hope, and opportunity. The mission of the Y is to build a community where all people, especially the young, are encouraged to develop their fullest potential in spirit, mind and body. We are an inclusive organization of men, women and children with a shared commitment to nurture the potential of youth, promote healthy living, and foster social responsibility. At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. We work side-by-side with our neighbors throughout King and south Snohomish counties to help kids and families thrive – and apply their positive behaviors and goals at home, school, the workplace, and beyond at our 13 branches, 2 overnight camps, 10 swimming pools, and more than 200 program sites.

  • The YMCA of Greater Seattle is proud to partner with the Sounders’ RAVE Foundation, U.S. Soccer Foundation, and Delta Air Lines to open a soccer mini-pitch at the Northshore YMCA in Bothell. Join us for the First Kick on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11:00 am (11811 NE 195th St, Bothell, WA) where we’ll cheer on youth soccer athletes with Sounders legend Brad Evans, mascot Sammy the Sounder, and community partners! Then, join the fun and see if you can score a goal or two as we open the field for everyone to play. This new soccer field expands equitable access to sports, supports whole person health, and provides a permanent space for youth and families to play, connect, and thrive. • A big win for the Mariners — and for the people who make the Y a welcoming place of belonging for all. 👏 Last week, we celebrated YMCA of Greater Seattle staff in a way that matched the heart they bring every day. From Y Spirit Week to the ballpark, we honored their dedication — and our community showed up right alongside us. Here’s what Staff Appreciation Week looked like: • 681,821 steps taken in our wellness challenge — in under 5 days • 20+ creative staff entries in our “Lift the Y” photo challenge • Over 3,500 giveaways shared across Y locations, from shirts to snack cards • Nearly 1,000 staff and family members registered to attend Y Staff Appreciation Day at T-Mobile Park Thank you to the families, friends, and partner organizations who donated and joined us. Your support helped us celebrate the people who power our mission. Y Spirit Week and Y Staff Appreciation Day were a true team effort — and it was a home run. 💙 #StaffAppreciation #YMCAGreaterSeattle
