The Veno Art team's passion is to pursue the dream of “Art without Borders.”
About us
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Veno Art team wanted to raise money in support of children's health around the world AND support artists. Veno Art launched the Covid-Free Kids Campaign . The Covid-Free Kids Charity Auction to be held on December 12th was born from the Veno Art team's passion for child health and the arts. It is one of many ways we pursue the dream of “Art without Borders.” The auction will be a celebration of talent and diversity, featuring more than 200 art pieces by masters around the world curated by Veno Art . Ten charities (see "partners" page) have been identified to receive 5% percent of the auction proceeds. It will be livestreamed for the convenience of auction lovers everywhere by the online auction platforms of Veno Art and LiveAuctioneers. These international auctioneers will manage bidding of a wide and unique selection of top-quality paintings, sculpture, and photography. The auction will also include exhibits, meet-the-artist sessions, and educational and cultural presentations.

I'm honored to have presented at the Wasa Innovation Center today, ( August 12, 2025)alongside my colleague Neda Nikoi, on our paper "Oil, Code, and Dust: Iran’s Entanglements with Data and Energy in a Glo-cal System." It was a fantastic experience to be part of a program filled with such diverse and thought-provoking research. Thank you to Rebekah Rousi and Toija Cinque for the opening words, and to Juhani Risku for the insightful keynote. I enjoyed the chance to connect with fellow presenters Anne Scott Wilson, Cameron Bishop, Benjamin Knock, and Sukruti Narayanan. The conversations and ideas exchanged today were truly inspiring. I had the pleasure of presenting at the National Stereoscopic Association's 51st Annual Convention, 3D-Con 2025, in Minneapolis! It was an incredible experience to share my research on early stereoscopic photography and the visual construction of Iran in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The sessions were filled with fascinating scholarship and I was particularly struck by the shared themes in my presentation and that of my colleague, Zach Horton, who discussed Russia's "Sputnik" stereo camera. It's truly inspiring to see how stereoscopic practice has been used to cultivate national identity in defiance of Western paradigms. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Melody Davis for her exceptional chairing of the sessions and for her warm encouragement. Her dedication and hard work made the event a huge success, and it was an honor to be a part of it. The support and feedback from the community were wonderful, and I'm looking forward to continuing this work and exploring new connections. I'm excited about the future of this field and hope to see everyone at 3D-Con next year in Albuquerque!

Symposium- Butterfly: glo-cal effects of data, energy and industry University of Vaasa_ 2025 August 12th Not just a beautiful insect, the term ‘butterfly’ is used to describe how small changes in the starting conditions of a system can led to large, unpredictable differences in outcomes (Palmer, Döring & Seregin, 2014). That is, even tiny modifications to one part of a system, may mean exponential, chaotic effects in other parts. ‘Butterfly effect’ was coined by Ed Lorenz, a meteorologist in the 1960s, but rather than referring to small changes creating unpredictable results, Lorenz actually meant that we could accurately predict the future in certain complex systems such as the atmosphere. Here, we adopt the term to both refer to sensitive dependencies on initial conditions as per Chaos Theory (Yorke & Li, 1975), to both describe how discrete differences in the starting state of a system can lead to radically different outcomes, as well as to describe how these radically different outcomes can somehow be predicted through artistic exploration. What Lorenz deemed as the “real butterfly effect” refers to the fact that there are limitations to the combinations of future unravelling that we may observe. In the case of the natural environment and globality, while we might find effects surprising, we can still predict alternative realities. With emphasis on digital technology and data-driven systems (i.e., AI), we aim to illuminate the omnipresence and physical implications of data and its potential for creative appropriation. The exhibition will reveal the untapped possibilities of digital realms to reflect and enhance our ecological sensibilities, while converging the artists, their artworks, scholars and practitioners from across disciplines (including engineering, energy, computer science, business and communication). By exploring how human interaction with digital infrastructure can serve as a conduit for critical and creative practices that advance ecological harmony, the exhibition begs audiences to contemplate the role of technology in a sustainable and equitable future. It is a call to action – a reminder that in the quest for ecological balance, creativity and innovation can lead the way in transforming our collective consciousness and societal structures. I am honored to be part of this program as one of the contributors! https://lnkd.in/dZRccbNB

🎨✨ Thrilled to share that I had the pleasure of presenting at the “Concept Art and Character Design: Critical and Creative Perspectives” conference held on 18 July 2025 at the University for the Creative Arts. My presentation, "Reimagining Identity: Iranian Character Design and the Politics of Representation," explored how character design in Iran reflects and challenge's cultural identity. I discussed how Iranian artists navigate local and global aesthetics while drawing on rich mythological figures like Rostam and Anahita to speak to resistance, nostalgia, and hybridity. It was inspiring to engage with fellow creatives and researchers on how art can act as both an agent of expression and cultural transformation. We considered the tension between popular culture and state ideologies, and how contemporary Iranian character design remains rooted in a unique visual heritage yet engages with global trends. A big thank you to the University for the Creative Arts and Ewan Kirkland for hosting such a dynamic and thought-provoking event, and to all the amazing speakers and attendees who contributed to these meaningful conversations. #ConceptArt #CharacterDesign #CulturalIdentity #IranianArt #VisualCulture #GameDesign #ArtConference #UCA

Thrilled to have presented my work, "Digital Resistance: Iranian Cinema and Social Media in the Face of Censorship," at the COSME PGR Conference at the University of Liverpool today. It was a stimulating day of discussions on media convergence and its impact on screen entertainment. My presentation explored how Iranian filmmakers are utilizing platforms like Instagram and Telegram to navigate state censorship, distribute their films, and engage with global audiences. It also touched upon the significant influence of social movements on contemporary Iranian cinema. Presenting at the COSME PGR Conference today reinforced the powerful role of digital platforms in enabling cultural resistance. Great conversations all #IranianCinema #SocialMedia #Censorship #MediaStudies #COSMEPGRConference #UniversityofLiverpool

Attending an insightful conference on "Re-imagining Climate (Im)mobilities in the Panicocene" at Durham University on May 8th-9th, online. The discussions were thought-provoking, particularly the session on "Climate (Im)mobilities in Narratives, Media and Representation." It is fascinating to learn about the six distinct climate mobility narratives identified in Western media: Mass Climate Migration, Crisis & Threat, Climate Denial, Victim & Humanitarian, "Success" Story, and Nuance & Complexity Narrative. Understanding these frames is crucial as we navigate public perception and policy responses to climate-induced displacement. Thank you to Durham University for hosting this important conference. It's vital that we continue to engage with these complex issues to foster more nuanced and effective approaches to climate (im)mobilities. #ClimateChange #ClimateMobility #DurhamUniversity #EnvironmentalStudies #SocialJustice
