It's a good day to take a step back to appreciate just how transformative the past four years have been for the U.S. Department of Commerce--and how impactful they've been for the United States. The Regional Economic Research Initiative has gathered data on all 12,000+ grant awards totaling more than $60B in obligations made by the Department in FYs 21-24, and we've done what we do best: mapped them. These investments span all 59 states and territories and touch every county in the country. They cover charting the world’s oceans to closing the prime age employment gap in urban and rural communities. They boost our capacity for innovation, increase access to capital, and open avenues for global trade. They drive excellence in manufacturing, foster climate resilience, and support good jobs. The Department of Commerce sits at the leading edge of our national ambitions--and it has never had so many ties into American communities thanks to the bipartisan support behind the programs Congress has tasked it with implementing. I can't wait to see where the future takes us next. Hope you enjoy this retrospective marking and mapping four unprecedented years of investing in America: https://lnkd.in/e7VY97YS

See the latest from Work Shift on the Biden-Harris Administration's historic investments in America's people, regions and industries. "Together, [these programs] changed not only the way the federal government does economic and workforce development—but how the country thinks about it." "...the idea was not just to invest in critical industries but also in specific places that could develop world-class expertise-and workforces-if given the right incentives and support." 🗞️ 👷♂️ https://bit.ly/3PEVNkB #EconomicDevelopment #WorkforceDevelopment #EDATechHubs #GoodJobs #AmericanRescuePlan #EDARecompete U.S. Department of Commerce
