This week, we had the honor of showcasing our "Villages of Tomorrow" project, one of the strongest examples of our positive impact vision, at a panel at the 80th UN General Assembly in New York. Moderated by Nick René Hartmann, Deputy Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at UNDP, the panel featured Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the UN; Sinan Cem Şahin, Vice President of Trendyol Group; and Susan Brown, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Bureau for External Relations and Advocacy. In his remarks, Sinan Cem Şahin highlighted the transformative role of digitalization in rural development and shared how, in partnership with UNDP Türkiye we are bringing the “Villages of Tomorrow” initiative to life. This initiative demonstrates how local inspiration can drive global impact, directly contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. From local to global, we remain committed to creating lasting positive impact. Sinan Cem Şahin, panelde yaptığı konuşmayla kırsal kalkınmada dijitalleşmenin dönüştürücü rolünü ve UNDP Türkiye iş birliğiyle hayata geçirdiğimiz “Yarının Köyleri” projemizi uluslararası kamuoyuyla paylaştı. “Yarının Köyleri”, yereldeki ilhamın küresel etkiye dönüşebileceğini somut örneklerle ortaya koyan projemiz, Birleşmiş Milletler’in sürdürülebilir kalkınma amaçlarına katkı sağlıyor. Yerelden küresele, pozitif etki yaratmak için çalışmaya devam edeceğiz.

Every peştemal woven in Buldan is a true example of traditional hand-weaving. Without any electronic mechanism, patterns are created solely through hand and foot movements - a craft that requires both tehcnical mastery and artistic skill. But as local artisan and Trendyol business partner İbrahim Araç points out, producing alone is not enough. In today's fast-evolving e-commerce landscape, these products also need to be presented, managed and marketed effectively. “Designing a great product is one thing, selling it successfully in the digital world requires a different kind of expertise,” he says. The Digital Master project, we've launched with TOBB and the Habitat Association, addresses exactly this need. By connecting SMEs with young talents trained in e-commerce, it helps artisans become more visible and competitive in today's digital economy. Hiçbir elektronik mekanizma kullanılmadan, sadece el ve ayak hareketleriyle desen veriliyor. Bu süreç, hem teknik hem de estetik açıdan ciddi bir ustalık gerektiriyor. Ancak İbrahim Araç’a göre, yalnızca üretmek yeterli değil. Rekabetin hızla arttığı e-ticaret ortamında bu ürünlerin doğru şekilde sunulması, yönetilmesi ve takip edilmesi gerekiyor. “İyi bir ürün tasarlamak kadar, onu dijital dünyada etkili şekilde satmak da uzmanlık istiyor” diyor.
