About us
Three Rivers Park District is a park system in the west suburban Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area of Minnesota. We manage almost 27,000 acres of park reserves, regional parks, regional trails, and special-use facilities. The name "Three Rivers" comes from our parks' geography, situated within the watersheds that flow into three significant rivers to this region: the Mississippi, the Minnesota and the Crow. The mission of Three Rivers Park District is to promote environmental stewardship through recreation and education in a natural resources-based park system. through recreation and education in a natural resources-based park system. With facilities for every season, including picnicking, swimming, play areas, boating, fishing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, golfing, camping and sledding, Three Rivers Parks is the place for recreation, play and relaxation. At Gale Woods Farm we have a dedicated team of superstar volunteers who are part of our fiber arts program, processing wool and creating fiber products for the Farm Store. The purpose of the Gale Woods fiber arts program is to provide opportunities for all ages and skill levels to experience and learn about the process of wool from fleece to final product. Our goals are to produce fiber for use in Gale Woods programs and for sale in their store while building a community of fiber volunteers. Products for sale include raw fleece, undyed and dyed roving, natural colored yarn, a variety of kits and finished products. Volunteers assist in all facets of wool processing - skirting, picking, washing, dyeing and carding wool. They help prep wool for programming and store sales along with making many of the wet felted products sold in the store. We're always delighted to have new folks join the team for scheduled fiber volunteer workdays. To learn more and start volunteering, contact our Program Coordinator Andi Anderson at Andi.Anderson@ThreeRiversParks.org.
