  • Each summer, our interns push the boundaries of design through the Beck Summer Design Challenge. This year’s theme, 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺, asked teams to imagine small but powerful design moves with the potential to transform entire communities. Winning concepts included: 🦋 Monarch Village: modular housing interwoven with a monarch butterfly habitat and park. 🚒 Big Red 4 Fire Station: civic infrastructure reimagined as a welcoming community landmark. ✨ Honorable Mention: The Cultural Link, turning a pedestrian bridge into a place of wellness and storytelling. These projects remind us that 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. It shapes not only buildings but also the lives lived around them. • The Melody has been recognized with an Honorable Mention in the General Excellence category of Fast Company’s 2025 Innovation by Design Awards! 🏆 Delivered in just 16 weeks as Atlanta’s first Rapid Housing Initiative project, this pioneering community transformed 20 repurposed containers into 40 supportive studio apartments—providing permanent housing for Atlantans who have experienced chronic homelessness. Thanks to the dedication of our team and the collaboration of incredible partners, the project came to life with urgency, innovation, and compassion. With thoughtful design, shared spaces, and on-site support services, it’s more than housing; it’s a place for stability, dignity, and connection. 💙 🔗 See the full list of honorees>> https://loom.ly/dvKvleQ #FCDesignAwards #DesignBuild #CommunityImpact #Atlanta

  • 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀. 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲. Carpenter Park connects Deep Ellum and East Dallas with sports courts, public art, and shaded gathering spots. Harwood Park links Downtown to the Farmers Market District and Deep Ellum. It offers pickleball courts, dog parks, whimsical playgrounds, and a sustainable rain garden. Both invite movement, creativity, and connection. Both blend recreation, culture, and nature into the city’s daily rhythm. Which would you choose for a Saturday afternoon: courts and art, or gardens and playgrounds? #PublicSpaces #CityParks #CommunityImpact

  • Our team put their design skills to work for a great cause at this year’s CANstruction Dallas! 🎉 Hosted at NorthPark Center, the annual design-build competition benefits the North Texas Food Bank and challenges AEC teams to create giant structures entirely from canned goods. This year, we built “CAN of Worms” — a Dune-inspired creation featuring the legendary sandworms of Arrakis. The structure was recognized as “The Best Meal." Huge thanks to our sponsors and team for making this possible! 👏 #CANstructionDallas #EndHunger #NorthTexasFoodBank #DesignBuild

  • 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻. Pacific Plaza transformed a surface parking lot into a vibrant downtown park. At its heart is the “Thread,” a 650-foot limestone seat wall that connects play areas, shaded canopies, and open lawns. It’s now a daily stop for office workers enjoying lunch outdoors. And kids climbing custom play structures or friends meeting for a weekend picnic. What’s more, it's a reminder that with vision, even the most ordinary spaces can become extraordinary places. What’s your favorite example of a space transformed for public life? #PublicSpaces #CityParks #CommunityImpact

  • 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲. 𝗔 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. 𝗔 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. In Dallas’s West End Historic District, West End Square blends the neighborhood’s past with what’s next. Under a U-shaped steel canopy, people check email, charge devices, or meet a friend surrounded by prairie gardens and open lawns. Smart city technology quietly supports the space, making it adaptable for community events or everyday use. It’s proof that art, technology, nature, and public life can come together — even in the smallest footprint. If you could add one technology feature to your local park, what would it be? #PublicSpaces #CityParks #CommunityImpact
