Colleagues call him “the definition of service with a smile,” and we couldn’t agree more. James goes above and beyond to ensure every event runs flawlessly. His commitment shines through in his own words: “The biggest reward for me is that our banquets guests leave happy and with the feeling that they wouldn’t have had as amazing an experience anywhere else. • Art is at the heart of The Allison Inn & Spa. Our property was envisioned as more than a destination – it’s a gallery of Pacific Northwest creativity, where every piece offers a moment to pause, reflect and connect with the spirit of the Willamette Valley. From steel sculptures and hand-carved wood to luminous paintings and photography, our curated collection highlights regional talent and the beauty of our surroundings. A few featured works include: 🔹 Soften the Barb by Monica Setziol-Phillips: Hand-carved Alaskan yellow cedar, grounded yet graceful. 🔹 Golden Vines by Michael Orwick: An oil painting capturing the vitality of wine country landscapes. 🔹 Spring Sheep by Marta Farris: Playful forms crafted from reclaimed metal. 🔹 Bud Break Triptych by James Frey: Photographs of spring’s first signs and the start of a new vintage. 🔹 Ceres’ Dream by Kelly Howard & Ken Hardenbrook: A striking copper and glass sculpture greeting guests in our lobby. Some works are available for purchase, while others remain part of our permanent collection – each carefully chosen to enrich the guest experience. #ArtAtTheAllison #WillametteValleyArtists #PNWArt #OregonWineCountry #SupportLocalArtists

  • Honoring heritage. Celebrating place. Brooke Jackson-Glidden with Portland Monthly writes: “Strong’s canny blending of influences and context showcase foods consumed by Turtle Island tribes since time immemorial and foods common in the Willamette Valley today. Often, they’re one and the same. ‘We’re highlighting place,’ he says. And in a way few chefs have managed.” Executive Chef Jack Strong brings this vision to life at The Allison Inn & Spa, crafting dishes that honor tradition while celebrating the flavors of Oregon today. We’re so proud to see him recognized as one of the Willamette Valley’s most exciting chefs! • At The Allison Inn & Spa, supporting our team extends beyond the workplace. We’re proud to partner with our neighbors at A-dec to offer garden plots for our team members. With 55 plots available just across the road from our property, this initiative nurtures more than vegetables - it cultivates connection, well-being and a commitment to sustainability. #AllisonInnSpa #EmployeeWellness #Sustainability #CareersIn Hospitality #WillametteValley #NationalWellnessMonth

  • This National Honey Bee Day, we’re reminded of the power of small yet mighty connections – both in nature and in our partnerships. Since 2015, VIVA! Events has been a trusted destination services partner for The Allison, helping us welcome and host countless corporate gatherings here in the heart of Oregon wine country. To celebrate the day, their team created a beautiful honey bee-inspired appreciation basket for us – a thoughtful gesture that’s as sweet as it is symbolic. Here’s to the bees who keep our valley thriving, and to the partners who help our community flourish.
