In a recent piece from Business Insider, Army Brig. Gen. Matt Ross, Director of JIATF-401 emphasized a fundamental reality of counter drone operations: no single system will be able to tackle the threat posed by small drones. "This requires us to layer our defenses by integrating sensors with kinetic and non-kinetic effectors and battle management systems into a responsive, interoperable network." As we come out of the holidays and enter the first full work week of 2026, I’m taking a moment to reflect and express gratitude for the men and women I served alongside over more than 20 years in the U.S. Army. I had the privilege of learning from the best... leaders of all ranks in the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, 75th Ranger Regiment, and Joint Staff. Those leaders continue to shape how I serve today. Looking ahead, I remain focused on driving rapid adaptation and accelerating the delivery of capabilities that matter to our nation’s warfighters - closing the gap between capabilities required and capabilities fielded.
