    Fun fact: If you ask ChatGPT where you can buy a custom coat for your cat, you may be able to purchase one without ever leaving the platform. You can thank ChatGPT Instant Checkout for that. At launch, U.S. users can get their cat's fall weather gear (or other merchandise) from Etsy sellers, with more than a million Shopify merchants coming soon.     There are many, many, many AI tools out there, and it might feel like you NEED all of them to succeed. But before you throw your entire budget at a new stack of AI tools, consider what the impact of those tools would be on your company. 🔑 One key consideration: The learning curve. Does your team have the technical skills to actually use the tool, or will it collect ""dust"" on their desktops? A shiny new tool may be fun to play around with, but that initial excitement will wear off quickly if your investment makes no tangible difference. For example, an AI tool that assists with coding might be great for a developer who understands how to build a website. But a content creator with no coding experience may not know enough of the basics to actually make sense of the tool's output. Even if your team understands a tool's capabilities, it will take time for them to get comfortable with it. You may need one person to master the tool before training everyone else. Or you may want to give everyone on your team time to play around. It depends on how much free time everyone has in their schedules. So, before you go all in on a brand new AI tool, think about its impact on your company. Follow our flow chart for help with your decision.

    Measuring the ROI of AI visibility can be tricky, but that doesn't mean you should avoid optimizing your website for AI entirely. Early movers can see a lower cost of entry, start growing share of voice ahead of the competition, and lock in those valuable citations. One approach you can take to measuring AI ROI is using a proxy KPI ladder. The ladder looks something like this: 🪜 Tier 1: Presence metrics, including citation frequency and mentions in AI agents 🪜 Tier 2: Engagement metrics, like referral traffic from AI tools and queries where your brand appears most often 🪜 Tier 3: Impact metrics, including lead quality from AI referrals and share of voice in AI-generated results across your category These proxy KPIs help give you the runway to prove traction, protect budget, and keep investment flowing while revenue signals mature.
