  • Not Every Child Just “Knows” How to Socialize Some kids naturally jump into playgroups or start conversations on their own. Others need a little more guidance—and that’s okay. In ABA, social skills are taught intentionally. That might mean learning to take turns, noticing someone else’s feelings, or simply joining in a game with one peer. We use play, modeling, and structured practice to help kids build the confidence to connect—with siblings, classmates, or even new friends at the park. It doesn’t happen all at once. But with time, patience, and the right support, those moments of connection start to grow. And when they do, it’s everything. #SocialSkills #ABAtherapy #ConnectionMatters #ReboundTherapies #AutismSupport

  • Let’s Talk About Reinforcement You’ve probably done this already—your child does something awesome, and you respond with a high-five, a favorite snack, or some screen time. That’s positive reinforcement, and it’s a core part of how we teach new behaviors in ABA. The key? Catch the behavior you want to see more of, and make sure something good follows right after. ✨ Your child asks for help instead of getting frustrated? Boom—praise, a hug, or a quick break. ✨ Tries something new at dinner? That favorite show might be next. ✨ Cleans up their toys without a prompt? Let them know you noticed. The goal isn’t bribery—it’s motivation. And when it’s done right, kids start choosing those behaviors because they feel successful doing them. #PositiveReinforcement #ABAtherapy #ReboundTherapies #ParentTips #MotivationMatters

  • ⏰ Daily Routines: One Step at a Time Getting through the day can be tough when even simple routines feel overwhelming—for the child and the parent. ABA therapy helps by breaking those routines into manageable, repeatable steps. Brushing teeth isn’t just “brush teeth”—it’s “get toothbrush, put toothpaste on, turn on water…” Each step becomes teachable. Therapists use visuals, encouragement, and consistent practice to make these everyday moments feel more doable. It doesn’t happen overnight. But over time, routines that used to cause meltdowns or frustration start to feel predictable—and even empowering. And that’s a win worth celebrating. #DailyRoutines #ABAtherapy #IndependenceSkills #ReboundTherapies #AutismSupport

  • 👋 Meet the BCBA You’ve probably heard the term BCBA—but what do they actually do? Think of them as the behind-the-scenes architect of your child’s therapy. They observe, assess, and design personalized treatment plans based on your child’s unique needs. They don’t just oversee progress—they adjust the path when needed and support the whole care team (including you). In short? They make sure therapy stays thoughtful, ethical, and effective. No capes. Just data, empathy, and a whole lot of teamwork. #BCBA #ABAtherapy #AutismSupport #ReboundTherapies

  • 🧠 What Is ABA Therapy? Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. It helps children build meaningful skills by breaking them down into manageable steps and reinforcing progress along the way. ABA therapy supports growth in areas like: ✔️ Communication ✔️ Social interaction ✔️ Daily routines ✔️ Emotional regulation ✔️ School readiness Every ABA plan is individualized—focused on the child’s unique strengths, needs, and goals. The goal is simple: help each child gain the tools they need to thrive in their own way. #ABAtherapy #AutismSupport #ReboundTherapies #Neurodiversity #ChildDevelopment

  • 🧺 Helping Your Child Build Independence Through Daily Tasks Building independence is one of the most empowering things we can support in a child’s life. ABA therapy often focuses on breaking down daily routines into manageable steps so kids can learn and succeed. 🔹 Start Small: Pick one task—like brushing teeth, setting the table, or putting on shoes. 🔹 Use Visual or Written Checklists: Help your child remember steps and feel ownership of the task. 🔹 Offer Choices: “Do you want to put on your socks or shirt first?” Choices increase motivation! 🔹 Reinforce Effort, Not Just Results: Celebrate progress—even if the task isn’t perfect yet. 💡 Pro Tip: Use backward chaining! Teach the last step first so your child experiences success right away. ➡️ Want help teaching independent skills at home? Our team at Rebound Therapies can guide you through the process step by step. #ABAtherapy #IndependenceSkills #DailyLiving #AutismSupport #ReboundTherapies #ParentingWins

  • 💫 Why Kids Stim and What It Means Have you noticed your child flapping their hands, spinning, or repeating sounds? These are called self-stimulatory behaviors—or stimming—and they’re a normal part of how many people, including those with autism, interact with the world. 🔹 What Is Stimming? Stimming includes repetitive movements or sounds like rocking, jumping, lining up toys, or humming. 🔹 Why It Happens: ✔️ Helps regulate emotions (calm, excitement, stress) ✔️ Provides comfort in overwhelming situations ✔️ Offers sensory input that feels good 🔹 Should I Be Concerned? Not necessarily! Stimming isn’t always something that needs to be stopped. It’s only addressed if it interferes with learning, causes harm, or prevents meaningful interactions. 💡 Pro Tip: Instead of trying to eliminate stimming, ask: Is my child overwhelmed or under-stimulated? Can I offer a safe, alternative activity to meet that need? ➡️ Our BCBAs at Rebound Therapies help families understand the “why” behind behaviors and create plans that support emotional regulation. #Stimming #Neurodiversity #ABAtherapy #AutismAwareness #ReboundTherapies #UnderstandingBehavior

  • 🔄 Supporting Transitions with First/Then Boards Transitions between activities can be tough for many children, especially those with autism. One simple, effective tool to ease those moments is a First/Then board. 🔹 What Is It? A First/Then board shows what’s happening now and what’s coming next—using words or visuals. Example: First: Brush Teeth 🪥 → Then: Watch a Show 📺 🔹 Why It Helps: ✔️ Provides structure and reduces anxiety ✔️ Makes expectations clear ✔️ Offers motivation for completing non-preferred tasks 🔹 How to Use It: Keep it simple—just one task at a time Use preferred activities as the “Then” to encourage participation Follow through every time for consistency 💡 Pro Tip: Laminate your board and use Velcro for reusable icons that can be changed daily! ➡️ Need help creating a custom First/Then board for your routine? We can help you design one that works at home and in therapy. #FirstThenBoard #ABAstrategies #AutismSupport #DailyTransitions #ReboundTherapies #ParentingWithPurpose

  • 🚽 5 Signs Your Child May Be Ready for Potty Training Wondering if it’s time to start potty training? Every child is different, but here are some common signs to watch for: Stays dry for longer periods (2+ hours at a time) Can follow simple directions like “sit down” or “go get your shoes” Shows interest in the bathroom or imitates others Can pull pants up and down with some help Tells you (verbally or non-verbally) when they’re wet or soiled Starting potty training when your child shows signs of readiness can make the process smoother for everyone. 💡 Pro Tip: Not sure where to start? Pair early signs with short, low-pressure potty sits using music or a favorite toy. ➡️ Our BCBAs at Rebound Therapies can help build a potty training plan that fits your child’s needs. #PottyTraining #ABAtherapy #AutismSupport #ReboundTherapies #ToiletTrainingTips #ParentingSupport
