When students feel supported, they thrive. The Chaiken Center for Student Success at Penn State Abington is proof of that. Ninety-seven percent of students who used the Chaiken Center, a hub for tutoring, personalized academic support, and peer coaching, returned to Abington the following semester.

The Penn State Smeal College of Business has launched the Propel Penn State Seed Fund. It's an initiative designed to give undergraduate students hands-on experience in venture capital while supporting real-world startups seeking early-stage investment. This is modeled after the paradigm of the Garber Venture Capital Fund, which was founded more than 25 years ago and continues to provide graduate students with real-world investing experience. The seed fund is supported entirely by gifts from alumni and friends. Any returns generated by the Seed Fund will be reinvested into future educational programming and investment activities.

Higher education is heading toward an enrollment cliff. Over the next decade, the number of college-aged students in the U.S. is projected to decline by 10–25% (📉 birthrates). In this environment, philanthropy will be the catalyst that will define the future of higher education. Strategic giving: ▪️ Expands access through scholarships ▪️ Invests in the student experience ▪️ Supports faculty and research that elevate reputation and impact From internships and mentorship to research opportunities and global learning, philanthropy creates the transformative experiences that set institutions apart in a shrinking sector. Institutions like Penn State University that invest in sustainable philanthropic growth and treat advancement as central to their strategy will lead. Philanthropy isn’t just support. It’s the cornerstone to the development of the next generation of leaders 🦁 #PennState #Highered #Philanthropy #HigherEducation #Enrollment

Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences alumnus Jeffrey A. Conrad has made a $100,000 gift to support the college’s Office of Access and Equity. The gift will help remove barriers to success for the next generation of students in the college. “As I’ve become more involved in supporting academia and offices like this one, it’s become clear how important funding is for centers like this one,” Conrad said. “I’m grateful that I’m in a position to help.” https://ow.ly/q5Uy50WJ1hN

Last year, as the Penn State Glee Club was preparing for its spring European concert tour, Mike Helms, a Glee Club alum and longtime supporter, understood that some students might not be able to make it due to the cost. Mike and his wife, Martha, made a gift of over $175,000 to the Glee Club endowment. It cut the per-student cost for the trip to about $600. Thanks to their support, 42 members embarked on a 10-day concert tour of Prague, Vienna and Budapest. These are some of our favorite thank you notes that the students sent to Mike and Martha.
