There was some good energy in DC this last week. The hype and buzz around AI’s transformation of healthcare is everywhere, and Rock Health is here for it. Since 2021, $27.3B in venture funding has gone to U.S. digital health startups with AI-enabled solutions, and already 36% of physicians are using AI in their practice. Rock Health had an opportunity to partner with Consumer Technology Association and René Quashie on their annual Health+ AI Summit this year. We were lucky to have so many smart people contributing to the momentum of AI. Given the stakes, big questions still loomed following the meeting: ❇️ How can AI make patients and communities healthier and not just create efficiencies? ❇️ How do we harness the opportunity without losing what matters most? ❇️ Where is policy smoothing the path—and where might it introduce risk? A few themes I’m reflecting on: ❇️ Investment tailwinds: AI-enabled startups now account for the majority of digital health funding, raising nearly double per round compared to non-AI peers. Investors are especially focused on workflow automation, R&D, and data infrastructure—areas where AI can deliver both near-term ROI and long-term transformation. ❇️ Policy as a market signal: Moves like TEFCA (for interoperability) and the OBBBA fund for rural hospitals create clearer conditions for scaling AI, while past shifts in telehealth reimbursement show how quickly investment patterns can accelerate or cool based on policy clarity. ❇️ The next frontier: From AI scribes adopted faster than any other tech in healthcare history, to agentic AI pilots that autonomously manage revenue cycle tasks, the frontier is moving from administrative back-office to direct clinical and patient-facing roles. Impactful use of AI will require building for trust, sound policy, and thoughtful human interaction. The path ahead isn’t about choosing between innovation or caution; it’s about building for AI’s full potential while protecting what matters most: healthier patients, stronger communities, and a more equitable healthcare system. As we think about how to bring AI and digital health into our systems in a smart and responsible way, we can’t lose sight of what really matters: people. At the end of the day, its patients and caregivers who are living with the impact of these technologies. So if we’re building for the future of health, we have to build with them at the center. I’m grateful to the colleagues across sectors leaning into these conversations, and appreciative of the time we spent together this past week: Nelly Ganesan, Al J. Browne, Julie Barnes, Rebecca Weintraub, Mark Sendak, Michael R. Crawford Randall Rutta , Ami Bhatt, MD, Jesse Ehrenfeld MD MPH, Laura Adams, Prabhjot Singh, MD PhD, Charlotte Rock, Michael Brouthers, Dan DOrazio, Kerri Conn Haresign Fritz Desir 🇭🇹🇬🇾 Karen S. Johnson, Ph.D. Chris Gibbons, MD, MPH

Join Rock Health at this year’s HLTH for a candid look at how demographics are reshaping expectations for workplace support and well-being. Workplace benefits aren’t one-size-fits-all anymore. Each generation shows up with different expectations, and traditional perks don’t always land the way they used to. What feels essential to a Baby Boomer may be irrelevant to Gen Z, and what attracts younger employees may not resonate with those later in their careers. Add in millennials balancing kids, caregiving, and financial uncertainty, and it’s clear the benefits playbook needs a rewrite. The challenge for employers is to design support that connects across life stages while still feeling personal and relevant. Our latest consumer adoption research, broken down by generational cohorts, echoes this reality. https://lnkd.in/dES-dPik Megan Zweig, CEO of Rock Health Advisory, will moderate the can’t miss panel “Lost in Multi-Generational Translation” on bridging generational divides in employee benefits with industry-leading experts: • Dr. Madhavi Vemireddy, MD, CEO, Cleo • Jenna Glover, CCO, Headspace • Faith P., Head of Global Benefits, Cision • Amanda Lannert, Jellyvision 🗓️ Mark your calendar: Monday, October 20, 12:20 pm PT, Logos Stage. See you there!

For a few years, I've seen the term "digital twin" pop up in pitches and headlines. This week, I had the chance to write about it. In today's Endpoints News Health Tech newsletter, I spoke with Rock Health's Julia A. Croxen about what this approach contributes in an area like metabolic care. (up until now, I'd mostly heard of digital twins used in research, rather than clinical care) Ngai Yeung's latest piece on Twin Health's $53M raise spurred my interest in digital twins, be sure to check out her piece on the fundraise. Also inside: - Ngai had the scoop on ALIGNMT AI's seed round - Walgreens has a new CEO and split up its business as the take-private deal closes Check it out (link in the comments) + be sure to subscribe!
