  • Lucas Marquardt, a student from Whitney High School, joined some of the most engaged high school students in our region to share their perspectives on student engagement and leadership. These students reminded everyone that they don’t just show up in class — they actively influence decisions and shape their schools and communities. School communicators from districts across the greater Sacramento region and the Foothills had the privilege of learning from these students during today’s Back to School Kick-off professional development day, hosted by CalSPRA’s Capitol/Foothills Region at the Placer County Office of Education. The student panel covered: 📌 Engagement in Action 📌 The Impact of Elevating Student Voice 📌 Misconceptions about Student Engagement 📌 Effective Communication Tools to Reach Students The theme was possibilities — the exciting opportunities that arise when student perspectives are truly heard and valued.
