During the annual Point-in-Time count, volunteers nationwide are using the Counting Us app to replace paper surveys with GPS-powered, real-time data—helping cities respond faster and smarter. As WIRED reports, tools like Counting Us and Show the Way are not just about numbers—they’re about connecting people to services and preserving dignity. #DataForGood #Innovation #SocialImpact #PITCount #Homelessness https://lnkd.in/gfAQ7vmr

Architects and Developers of the Framework to End Homelessness
About us
Simtech Solutions Inc. is a mission-driven for-profit with over 20 years of leadership in developing technologies to understand and address homelessness. Our framework is comprised of: • The Show The Way mobile app. This app enables street outreach providers, first responders, and concerned citizens to connect people experiencing homelessness with services and guide them on a pathway to stable housing. • The Counting Us mobile app. With a roster of 70+ communities using it, Counting Us is the most widely used mobile application designed specifically for the annual US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) point-in-time homeless census. • The HomelessData.com data warehouse. The warehouse ingests pertinent data to provide communities with centralized oversight of their entire homeless population and the providers committed to supporting this population. Key features include performance monitoring and evaluation dashboards designed in Tableau, by-name lists, all HUD-required reports, data quality monitoring tools, and performance evaluation scorecards. Our technical solutions can either augment or replace existing Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) that grantees of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are required to use.

The annual point-in-time (PIT) homeless census is an opportunity to evaluate outreach coverage and validate that coordinated entry is inclusive of those who tend to avoid shelters. Outreach teams build rapport with the homeless population throughout the year and know where to find people. Join our webinar on 9/16 to learn how outreach can inform the PIT and vice versa. https://lnkd.in/gFaEF8Zu

Homelessness data is getting harder to interpret. What used to hinge on year-to-year weather shifts now involves a complex mix of COVID-19 impacts, immigration policy, rising vehicle residency, and local enforcement practices. Inconsistent count methodologies and data gaps only add to the challenge. We help communities make sense of point-in-time (PIT) count data and tell the real story behind the numbers. https://lnkd.in/gT6UrNqF

The County of Santa Clara (home to Apple, Cisco, and other tech giants) chose Counting Us for their annual U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Point-In-Time homeless count. Though survey-based counts take more effort, the insights are invaluable. As Kathryn Kaminski stated "What we really want to know is 'What are the causes of homelessness?' 'How can we better use our resources and our programs to address them..." https://lnkd.in/gF3-MViz
