Project teams are currently working on a new, $225 million science building at Wesleyan University. The Payette-designed, four-story structure will consolidate two existing facilities and house multiple departments. The article includes updates from a previously published version in 2018 with new industry standards and codes regarding the use of fully tempered glass in buildings, as well as additional project insights. https://lnkd.in/eFwznCAj

Congratulations to our architect client, OJB, on this recent recognition from Fast Company for their impressive work at Downtown Cary Park in Cary, NC! Fast Company honored the park as the top Urban Design winner, spotlighting the seven-acre space that transformed the downtown area. SGH’s Javier Arnez was recently named to the 2025 ALX100 list, recognizing 100 Latino leaders who are making a difference in Massachusetts. The non-profit organization We Are ALX recently announced this year’s honorees and will celebrate with an awards ceremony in October to advance Latino American prosperity and leadership representation. Javier specializes in seismic and structural evaluations of critical infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/etPmZ446

A few weeks ago, SGH team members volunteered at Waltham Fields Community Farm to support their annual carrot harvest. The harvested carrots will be shared with community members, including those experiencing food insecurity. Waltham Fields is a volunteer-driven farm committed to distributing at least 20% of its harvest through food access and food security initiatives. We’re proud to contribute to their mission and encourage others to learn more about their important work.

SGH’s David Artigas, PE recently presented at the 15th International Congress on the Deterioration and Conservation of Stone, held at the Sorbonne Université in Paris, France. He co-presented a paper, “Hygrothermal Properties of Historic Bricks: An International Characterisation, Correlation and Clustering Analysis,” which highlights research on historic brick performance. David also delivered a poster, “Non-Destructive Testing and Successful Remediation of Ferric Oxide Staining of Granite Masonry Due to Acidic Surface Cleaning.”

ASTM International recognized SGH’s Steve DelloRusso, P.E., with an Award of Merit and the honorary title of Fellow for his leadership and technical expertise advancing standards for reinforced concrete pipes and box sections. The award is the highest individual honor bestowed by the ASTM Board of Directors for distinguished service and participation in committee activities.
