  • If you want to see a heart-warming story, watch this piece called “Bringing Dorothy Home” by #WWLTV in New Orleans. Through tenacious #reporting and with the help of several organizations, Dorothy Taquino, a victim of #Hurricane #Katrina has been identified after 20 years. There is still a little red tape to get through, but Dorothy will finally be laid to rest at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, where her #headstone has been since she #preplanned her own #arrangements in 1988. For the past two decades, Dorothy has been interred at the Hurricane Katrina #Memorial, one of 30 people who were unidentified after the massive #storm that devastated Louisiana in 2005. https://lnkd.in/g6-xZJDa

  • Turning Wedding Gowns into Comfort for Grieving Families At Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home, compassion continues long after the service. Led by Community Business Representative Gretchen Varnell, the team repurposed eight donated wedding gowns into burial garments for infants through nonprofit partner Monday Knight Disciples. This Mother’s Day donation drive brought together staff, the public, and community partners to support grieving families in a deeply meaningful way. As Varnell shared, “Sometimes comfort comes wrapped in lace and satin — a small touch that can mean the world.” Greenoaks plans to expand the initiative by partnering with more churches and nonprofits, reinforcing that even small gestures can make a lasting impact.

  • It’s a phone that never rings and never will. But our Wind Phone at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon, provides a quiet kind of #solace to those who are #grieving. As Lisa Diamond, Skyline location manager said, “Even though I’m in the death care industry, it doesn’t mean that I’m immune from #grief,” she said. “I lost my mother two years ago. I still felt the need to still have #conversations with her, to still give her updates on my life, to still tell her that now I’m a grandma.” Watch this touching #story on KPTV.   https://lnkd.in/etzCErcC
