  • September is prostate cancer awareness month. Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in American men, second only to lung cancer – yet prostate health often goes overlooked until problems arise.    The good news? You can reduce your prostate cancer risk and maintain good quality of life as you age. This month, Southcoast Health urologist Dr. Didi Theva offers guidance to help you understand common prostate issues and adopt a proactive approach to maintaining prostate health.

  • We’re proud to announce that, earlier this week, we unveiled our new linear accelerator (linac) machine – a major step forward in cancer care. This state-of-the-art technology delivers radiation therapy with greater speed and precision, so our patients can spend less time in treatment and more time with the people they love. The linac is the latest example of how Southcoast Health is investing in advanced technology to provide exceptional care and the best experience for our patients. Learn more https://lnkd.in/eUXWXZyU

  • This month, as we recognize National Recovery Month, we are celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Southcoast Behavioral Health. Addiction and mental health challenges are deeply interconnected and through the services provided at Southcoast Behavioral Health and Southcoast Health Family Medicine we are supporting hope, healing and resilience for adults and children on their journey to better mental health. We’re improving lives and strengthening the wellbeing of our communities by getting patients into treatment faster and connecting them with local resources for ongoing support once they leave the hospital. Looking ahead to the next 10 years, our mission remains the same: breaking barriers, building strength and creating brighter futures by providing whole-person care that prioritizes behavioral health. Because mental health IS health. • Adopting advanced technology allows Southcoast Health physicians to spend more time with their patients. “I am so grateful for Southcoast Health’s investment in our digital health record. Using an electronic medical record has improved the way I care for patients and has made me a better doctor,” said John Podkowa, DO, Southcoast Health Primary Care Provider. Southcoast Health earned the top Level 10 rating for demonstrating the highest levels of digital adoption across both hospital and outpatient services from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) on their 2024 Digital Health Most Wired Survey.
