Updates

  • Mass. Electric Construction Canada Co. is proud to support Trillium Rail Partners in delivering the stations, rail and systems package for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension. Our scope includes supporting the development of the rail and systems works that will power this 9.2-kilometer extension of Line 5 Eglinton. With seven new stations, four of them underground and a critical connection at Mount Dennis Station, the extension will bring more rapid transit to Toronto and Mississauga. Once complete, the project will make travel faster and easier for tens of thousands of riders each day, expand access to jobs and services and support a more sustainable future by reducing congestion. As part of the Trillium Rail Partners team, including Amico Affiliates, Alberici Constructors, ACCIONA and WSP, we’re proud to be building the systems that will help bring this next chapter of regional transit to life.

  • As summer comes to a close, we’re grateful for the interns who spent the season contributing and growing with our teams at Mass. Electric Construction. Athena, a mechanical engineering student at Purdue, supported estimating work in our Grapevine, Texas office. She reflected: “One thing I learned in my internship is how to learn. In the field, you learn in a more self-directed way: asking questions, making inferences and doing a task over and over until you finally get it. It’s less about memorizing and more about understanding, adapting and problem-solving.” Thank you to Athena — and all our interns — for the impact you made this summer.

  • Mass. Electric Construction Co. is proud to share that we’ve been recognized with the Recognition of Safety Achievement award by the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO). This award celebrates organizations with injury rates below the provincial average and reflects the strong safety culture upheld by our teams. Through thorough planning, attention to detail and a commitment to looking out for one another, our team continues to set the bar for safety. We appreciate everyone who played a role in earning this recognition — your focus and dedication help keep our teams safe every day. #ConstructionSafety #NobodyGetsHurt #Teamwork #ECAOntario #SafetyExcellence #Infrastructure #SafetyCulture

  • MEC is excited to be the electrical contractor for the Chesapeake Tunnel Joint Venture on the new CBBT Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project. MEC has begun electrical work on the new tunnel, which will be one of the Mid-Atlantic's first transportation tunnels excavated by a tunnel boring machine. Our team will provide and install electrical components, including 480V switchgear, 480V emergency diesel generators, normal and emergency lighting, conduit, raceway, wire and new low-voltage systems, such as communication systems. Once complete, the new one-mile-long tunnel under the Thimble Shoal Channel will have two southbound lanes of traffic, two new vent buildings and the existing tunnel will have two northbound lanes. MEC is looking forward to a successful project and connecting with the Virginia Beach community.

  • We’re excited to welcome our 2025 MEC interns. Last year’s interns made an immediate impact, contributing to meaningful work and becoming valued members of the team. We’re confident this year’s group will do the same. To our incoming interns: get ready to contribute from day one, learn from experienced teams and see how projects come to life.

  • Delivering quality work starts with keeping our teams safe — every day, on every project. As we wrap up Construction Safety Week, hear from Estimator/Field Engineer Sebastian Pauli on why safety is always the priority: "Safety is the foundation of every successful project. From proper PPE to strict adherence to protocols, a safety-first mindset prevents accidents, protects workers and ensures every team member goes home healthy. Building safely means building smart." #ConstructionSafetyWeek #MEC
