We are very excited to announce that MacroCycle Technologies has been awarded an NSF SBIR Phase I grant! We are deeply grateful to the National Science Foundation (NSF) for supporting our mission to make PET and polyester fully circular, reduce plastic pollution, and develop a commercially viable chemistry based technology. MacroCycle’s SolvoGenesis™ technology strengthens domestic supply chain resiliency by conserving critical natural resources away from plastics production, all while keeping PET waste out of our waterways and advancing a circular economy. With this grant, our team will further advance the science behind SolvoGenesis™, improving its ability to handle impure PET waste feedstocks while demonstrating both product quality and cost-competitiveness. A special thank you to our program director, Vincent Lee, for his guidance and support throughout the application process.

Since then, Soo has graduated from Wellesley College with a dual background in Data Science and Biology and gained experience building AI solutions at Pfizer. Now, she’s bringing that expertise to MacroCycle, focusing on enhancing experimental design workflows and optimizing meeting efficiency with custom AI agents. We’re thrilled to have Soo back on the journey with us!

Calling all #climatetech startups and university researchers in Massachusetts! The Catalyst and DICES Grant Program, administered jointly by Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and MassVentures, is currently accepting applications for its fall cohort. The program offers grants of up to $75,000 to MA-based researchers and early-stage companies at TRL 2-4 looking to demonstrate initial prototypes of their climate technologies. Here’s how MacroCycle Technologies benefited from their recent Catalyst grant: “The Catalyst Grant allowed MacroCycle to dedicate resources to a new aspect of our technology that we had not fully explored before. We were a PET plastic recycling only company beforehand, but this grant allowed us to achieve a breakthrough in demonstrating that our technology can also recycled polyester textiles! We’re proud to share that MacroCycle Technologies has been awarded a $350,000 InnovateMass grant from Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to advance the textile circularity capacity of our SolvoGenesis™ platform! With this support, we’ll be working closely with local textile partners to transform waste here in Massachusetts into new materials, bringing us one step closer to a circular model in fashion and apparel. Massachusetts led the way as the first state to ban textiles from landfills. The next step is turning that policy into action by building the technologies and infrastructure that will turn textile waste into high-value new materials ready to re-enter the supply chain. With our InnovateMass partners, MacroCycle is working to achieve exactly that! 🌎 MacroCycle’s Statement on the UN Plastics Treaty Talks ♻️ When international regulations stall, technology can lead the way forward. The present outcomes of the U.N. Plastics Treaty Talks are disappointing, but the need for economically viable solutions that advance true circularity has never been more urgent and the team at MacroCycle is more motivated than ever. While the talks did not secure production caps or result in agreements on chemical regulations that could have drastically improved our global waste crisis, there is a clear positive outcome: we have consensus on the importance of increasing waste collection and recycling. This alignment is a meaningful step forward, highlighting the need for investment in infrastructure to improve collection rates. With or without a treaty, we must continue developing scalable solutions that close the loop, enable high-quality recycling, and reduce reliance on virgin material production. At MacroCycle Technologies, we see a unique opportunity to turn global agreement on responsible waste management into real-world impact, proving that innovation can drive circularity even ahead of binding regulations.
