Congratulations to Krish, who recently received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses! Read this excerpt from the nomination: "I brought my family member to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville after a long journey to get the best care. From the moment we met Krish, everything changed. Even at the end of a long shift, Krish welcomed us with kindness and reassured my family member that they would be well cared for. He patiently explained information, answered questions, and treated my family member with compassion and respect. Krish consistently went above and beyond — checking in even when my family member wasn’t his patient, encouraging before surgery, visiting in the ICU, and making them feel truly valued. His presence gave my family member comfort and peace. His compassion and dedication made a lasting impact on both of us." Mayo Clinic is among over 5,000 healthcare organizations worldwide committed to the DAISY Award program. The DAISY Award is presented each month to an extraordinary nurse. About us
Mayo Clinic has expanded and changed in many ways, but our values remain true to the vision of our founders. Our primary value – The needs of the patient come first – guides our plans and decisions as we create the future of health care. Join us and you'll find a culture of teamwork, professionalism and mutual respect, and most importantly, a life-changing career. Mayo Clinic was founded in Rochester, Minnesota by brothers Dr. William James Mayo and Dr. Charles Horace Mayo. More than 100 years later, their vision continues to evolve around a single guiding value: "The needs of the patient come first." Today we are the largest integrated, not for-profit medical group practice in the world. We are recognized for high-quality patient care more than any other academic medical center in the nation. These endorsements are very gratifying, but also humbling. They remind us of the tradition that has been entrusted to each one of us, and the legacy of excellence that we uphold every day.

A new Mayo Clinic study finds that many heart attacks in people under 65 — especially women — are caused by factors other than clogged arteries, challenging long-standing assumptions about how heart attacks occur in younger populations. More than half of heart attacks in women under age 65 were caused by nontraditional factors, such as spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), embolism and other conditions unrelated to artery-clogging plaque.
