About us
Mayo Clinic has expanded and changed in many ways, but our values remain true to the vision of our founders. Our primary value – The needs of the patient come first – guides our plans and decisions as we create the future of health care. Join us and you'll find a culture of teamwork, professionalism and mutual respect, and most importantly, a life-changing career. Mayo Clinic was founded in Rochester, Minnesota by brothers Dr. William James Mayo and Dr. Charles Horace Mayo. More than 100 years later, their vision continues to evolve around a single guiding value: "The needs of the patient come first." Today we are the largest integrated, not for-profit medical group practice in the world. We are recognized for high-quality patient care more than any other academic medical center in the nation. These endorsements are very gratifying, but also humbling. They remind us of the tradition that has been entrusted to each one of us, and the legacy of excellence that we uphold every day.

Honored to be at the 10th Annual Becker's Healthcare's Health IT + Digital Health + RCM Conference to share how nurses are driving transformation at Mayo Clinic. Our team highlighted Nurse Virtual Assistant (NVA), a first-of-its-kind, in-house built AI tool created for nurses, by nurses. From design to testing, nurses shaped every detail to reduce administrative burden and bring evidence-based resources right to nurses at the bedside. Since launching in August, NVA has already generated 52,000+ patient summaries, a powerful example of how nurse-led innovation can transform care. Proud to see nursing at the forefront of AI, digital health, and human-centered technology. And excited to connect with others passionate about empowering care teams!

When Charnel Golis-Tabag picked up her sister from the airport in her home state of Hawaii, she didn't expect to hear that her sister's kidney function had dropped below 11%. That moment changed everything. "She told me she was on the transplant list," Charnel recalls. "Two days later, I called Mayo Clinic to start the living kidney donation process." For Charnel, living kidney donation was about more than surgery; it was about love, family and community. "It wasn't just a gift to my sister," she says. "It was a gift to our entire family." When Jacksonville Judge Audrey Moran received a clear mammogram in 2017, her doctor still ordered an MRI — and it saved her life. The MRI found breast cancer that no one could see or feel. Years later, during emergency surgery, doctors discovered her cancer had returned and spread. Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. With Dr. Pooja Advani and her team at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Judge Moran began treatment with a new targeted therapy. “It’s like a heat-seeking missile that zeroes in on cancer cells,” she said. Today, her brain cancer is gone, her spine disease is stable, and she’s back on the bench at the Duval County Courthouse — feeling strong and grateful. Learn more about her journey and the Mayo Clinic team behind the breakthrough that changed everything. https://bit.ly/3IEmDto

Inside Mayo Clinic, a bell rang six times, each chime signaling that a diagnosis was discovered for another person with a rare and undiagnosed condition. For at least eight more families, scientists believe answers are within reach. These breakthroughs unfolded during the first U.S.-based Undiagnosed Hackathon, held Sept. 21–23 — an intensive, three-day effort to solve 29 rare disease cases that had resisted explanation. The event drew nearly 130 researchers, clinicians and data scientists from 28 countries, reflecting a global spirit united in the pursuit of answers. Learn more: https://mayocl.in/4mWAc5r
