🚨Starting Oct 1, Maryland is changing automated speed camera fines from a flat $40 (for 12+ mph over) to graduated fines based on how far over the limit a driver is. This supports our Vision Zero goal of reducing severe and fatal crashes, especially near schools and along high-injury corridors. New fine schedule: 12–15 mph over: $40 16–19 mph over: $70 20–29 mph over: $120 30–39 mph over: $230 40+ mph over: $425 See the attached graphic for a quick reference. Automated enforcement is targeted where data show speeding and serious crashes. Slowing down saves lives. Please share with your networks and, most importantly, drive the posted speed. Employees power all that we do - and we recognize their power to create change with the communities we serve. Come work together with us.
What's made possible when a County Executive defines his role as "agent of change," and starts with listening to how our colleagues across Montgomery County Government are creating change? Today County Executive Marc Elrich and Fariba Kassiri (she/her) shared breakfast with: - Josh Cole is speeding up permit review by linking data into maps to reduce the number of systems reviewers have to access - Dionna Bucci reduces rework across her team to increase community outreach across the community - Chris Hunsicker made our event process more equitable by simplifying the permit instructions and getting them translated into the languages of the communities we serve (cheered on by Kathie Durbin) - Catherine Bukowski stepped up beyond her role to integrate templates and build living standard operating procedures to advance our climate goals, - Jameela Hyland, MPH smooths HHS processes and creates space for growth with renewed feedback systems (from 3 days of processing to 1) - and Reymundo Arroyo brings forth the challenges of sustaining change through 311. Together, these folks are making things better - efficient, effective, and equitable as part of the Innovation@MCG Accelerator communities James Hawkins leads and @Eritra Thomas makes possible.
