  • One year ago today, we celebrated the opening of the Sound Transit Lynnwood Link Extension, connecting our community with the rest of the region. Since then, hundreds of thousands of riders have taken the Light Rail to commute to work, attend classes, shop at Pike Place Market or our fabulous Alderwood Mall, cheer on their favorite team at a game, attend a concert, catch a flight, visit family, and take many other trips. The possibilities still feel endless.   Bringing the Light Rail to Lynnwood had been in the works for decades, and projects of this magnitude take time to build and come together. The Lynnwood Link Extension required thousands of hours of effort to ensure it would serve our community well, now and long into the future. We want to again extend our deepest and sincerest gratitude to our employees, our numerous partner organizations, and the many union laborers who worked tirelessly to keep this project moving forward. Here's to many more years of Light Rail trips!

  • After nearly 25 years of service to our community, DBS Director David Kleitsch is retiring this week. David has played a crucial role in the development and growth of Lynnwood, shepherding monumental projects such as the Lynnwood Link Light Rail and City Center projects, the formation of the Development and Business Services department, and so much more.  His leadership and insight are unparalleled, and we will greatly miss his wit, humor, and his passion for this city.  Please join us in wishing David a happy and well-deserved retirement!

Economic Developer | EMPA Candidate | Empowering Communities

Honored to be invited to speak at the Northwest Economic Development Course in Lacey, hosted by the Washington State Department of Commerce and Business Oregon. I shared on the fundamentals of community and economic development, drawing from my experience working in local government and highlighting both rural and urban challenges and opportunities-as well as how people, place, data, and collaboration come together to build thriving communities. I’m especially grateful to have been in a room full of passionate economic developers who are driving impact across our region. Being part of that exchange of ideas and energy was inspiring. Special thanks to Linda Alongi for the invite, and to Simreet Dhaliwal Gill and Soo Ing-Moody for capturing the photos! #economicdevelopment #communitydevelopment

  • This morning, we celebrated the much-anticipated completion of our 204th St SW and 76th Ave W improvement project! Not only did this project pave Lynnwood's last public gravel road, but it also made significant improvements by widening the road for better access for emergency vehicles, installing ADA-compliant ramps and sidewalks, and providing an overall safer and easier access for those who learn and work at our College Place schools. Even a few of our younger community members helped us cut the ribbon! Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback and input to make this part of our community a great place to live, work, learn, and play!
