We just raised $100,000,000 from Ribbit, Sequoia, Evantic, Conviction, and Pear. But it almost didn’t happen. For nearly two years, Listen Labs did not look like a rocket ship. After our pre-seed, we spent ~18 months in what felt like limbo. Models were super unreliable, customers were unsure and we struggled to hire. Every startup problem you can imagine - we felt it. About 9 months ago, it finally clicked. Since then: • Revenue has grown 15×, crossing 8 figures. • We’ve interviewed over 1 million people • We now work with hundreds of enterprises, including Microsoft, Sweetgreen, and Perplexity So what’s driving this? Traditional research costs $50-100k and takes months. So teams skip it and guess. Then they spend millions - on products nobody wanted, campaigns that don't land, messaging that misses. Listen lets you have hundreds of real customer conversations in hours - so you actually know before you commit. More importantly, the outcomes are speaking for themselves. • Chubbies interviewed >100 kids and discovered why an existing product wasn’t working, redesigned it, and launched a new line that quickly became a top seller. • Teams at Microsoft went from waiting 6–8 weeks for research to getting answers in days directly in customers’ own words. • At Sweetgreen, outlier customer insights led to protein-forward menu items that now shape how they think about new launches. Ribbit led because they were customers first - and somehow our top-performing sales reps, unpaid. We owed them a round. Grateful to the team that kept going when the outcome was unclear. Back to work.

  • We’re thrilled to announce our Series B with $100M in total funding, led by Ribbit Capital, with participation from Sequoia Capital, Evantic Capital, Conviction, and Pear VC. Since our launch nine months ago, Listen has interviewed over one million people and served hundreds of enterprises including Microsoft, Sweetgreen, Perplexity, Robinhood, and more. This funding will help us put the voice of the customer behind many more decisions at many more companies. To our friends, colleagues, partners, and customers, thank you. Stay tuned for what’s next!

Big update - I've just joined Listen Labs as VP Revenue to build a GTM org that customers actually want to talk to (and even listen to). Every customer has a voice and it deserves to be heard. But for the longest time, companies haven't had the tools to actually listen to them at scale. Listen is changing that. We've built an AI-first research platform that delivers qualitative insights at massive scale - helping teams at places like Google, Microsoft, and Canva understand their customers in hours, rather than weeks/months. Stoked to join Alfred Wahlforss, Florian Juengermann, and the entire Listen team. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! We are moving fast and building something special. I'll be sharing more soon about why now is the time to join us and the specific roles we're hiring for to scale our GTM engine. Here we go!

  • Did you know that most people have no idea what "Black Friday" means? And that 90% of people now prefer buying gifts online? Our team interviewed 40 shoppers to understand their feelings across Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Great work Jillian Graver! Read the full study below 👇

In 2011, I rode with my grandfather for 30 minutes to our “local” Walmart after Thanksgiving dinner, waited for the clock to strike midnight, and queued for over two hours to get the very last iPad in stock as a gift for my grandmother. It was… an experience. Black Friday has evolved a lot since the days of doorbuster deals and cart races for Tickle-Me-Elmos. So, we decided to interview 40 gift-buyers about their Black Friday experiences today (and in a matter of just hours, thanks to Listen Labs). Every participant said that gift-buying makes them feel joy and excitement, yet 70% mentioned also feeling stressed or anxious. And 90% now prefer shopping online, not just for convenience, but to avoid the crowds and chaos (11-year-old me agrees). One more fun learning: Most people have no idea what the phrase “Black Friday” actually means. Do you? Check out the full study linked in the comments below.

Hands-on experience is at the core of my AI for Customer Research course. The goal is simple: help students move beyond the AI hype and see where AI tools and techniques fit in their research workflow. Students are running their first AI-moderated interviews. They’re getting to actually see where AI fits into the research workflow, and what it can (and can’t) do. A big thank you to Alfred Wahlforss and the team at Listen Labs for partnering with us to give students this experience! In AI for Customer Research, we dive deep into AI-moderation, and how it can truly transform the speed, scale and reach of your research. Multi-lingual, global, qualitative-quantitative hybrid studies can exist for the first time thanks to AI-moderated interviews. Partnership between researcher and AI isn’t just the future. It’s here, and it’s changing how insights drive innovation.

It’s been a true pleasure working with the Canva team to help their researchers get closer to their users. With Listen, Matt Harris and his team ran AI-moderated interviews across global markets to understand what drives people to create and collaborate on Canva. They were able to move faster, uncover richer insights, and reach markets they previously didn’t have time or resources to study. “Listen enabled us to get qualitative insight at scale in non-English speaking markets and do research where we wouldn’t have done before.” - Matt Harris, Research and Insight Lead at Canva Still looking for a better way to understand your customers? • We’re excited to be heading to ESOMAR Congress 2025 in Prague this fall! 🌍 You’ll find us at Stand 32, and on Day 1, our very own Kit Wiggin will be on the Discovery Stage sharing how teams are using AI-moderated interviews to go from insight to impact in <24 hours. We’ll talk about where AI adds value, where it doesn’t, and how research teams can move faster without losing the depth that matters. If you’ll be there, come say hi. We’d love to hear what you’re working on! 👂 #ESOMARCongress25 & #ESOMAR
