About us

Every student deserves daily instruction that's worthy of their big dreams. That's why we help school systems and states strengthen teaching at scale with sustainable, best-in-class instructional support. The future promises today’s young people new possibilities. But whether they can seize those opportunities depends on what and how well their educators teach them. That’s why we help school systems help educators work toward a common vision of excellence, ensuring every student can develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills to solve complex challenges, pursue meaningful goals, and create a better world. For leaders, it’s hard to know where to focus limited resources to close gaps and build momentum. Working as embedded thought partners, co-designers, coaches, and strategists, we design systemic (and practical) solutions to persistent instructional challenges that ignite life-changing results. Whether you need to clarify your vision, develop leadership capacity, implement a new curriculum, or build an agile professional learning system, we can help. Most importantly, we don’t just make recommendations—we make them happen.

AI Strategy and Innovation in K-12

Leading Educators had our final showcase for the AI Accelerator on Monday, where our 22 nonprofit teams culminated their seven month journey of exploring coherent, human centered AI integration through tool building, piloting, and scaling. Dr. A'Seret Dokubo and Meredith (Rosenberg) Pasake of Blue Engine had incredible results to share, but even more importantly, they modeled the power of iterative change based on listening deeply to their users. When original outputs weren’t as accurate as they wanted, they saw it as a step in the process and an opportunity to learn and refine. They are a model of the power of persistence and adaptation in service of their goal, serving their coaches. Congrats to the Blue Engine team!

🚨 In case you missed it on Monday… Meredith (Rosenberg) Pasake and Dr. A'Seret Dokubo set out to tackle the challenge of how our coaches were spending their time. At the core of our organization's DNA is the commitment to ensuring that individual learning needs are taken into account when designing learning experiences. This is just as true for educators as it is for students. Blue Engine coaches spent more time than ideal adapting our professional learning content for each school partner on the front end, which meant they had less time to allocate to real-time support, like co-planning, analyzing student data, and modeling strong instructional practices. Enter the Pathway Personalizer: our AI tool designed to reduce coaches’ prep time while preserving Blue Engine’s instructional approach. The impact? ⏱️50% time saved on front-end planning 🤝More time available for direct coaching 🙌100% of coaches say they’ll keep using it 💡 Our takeaway: The best tools give educators more time to do the work that matters most.

This past spring and summer, I jumped into something I honestly knew very little about: building an AI tool. One of my core values is learning, and this stretched me in the best ways. I’m proud that I leaned into something unfamiliar, pushed through the “I don’t know what I’m doing” moments, and came out the other side with both a real tool that helps my colleagues and a whole lot more confidence in myself. If there’s one thing I’m taking away, it’s that AI doesn’t have to feel intimidating. Thanks to Overdeck Family Foundation and Leading Educators for providing this opportunity. And thank you Playlab AI for developing a platform that makes AI so user-friendly.

Educators need more than abstract AI possibilities—they need real-world use cases that show what works, for whom, and under what conditions. 📊 RPPL’s AI Network Scan highlights this challenge 👉  https://bit.ly/3HsJGpP 🎯 One of our member organizations, Leading Educators, and one of our affiliate orgs, FullScale Learning, provided real-world use cases in their recent publication, “Generative Practice: Practical Insights for Unlocking the Instructional Potential of AI.” Explore the use cases today ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dUf3dxFX

  • Strong teacher-student relationships are the foundation of every student’s classroom experience—yet they remain underemphasized in typical teacher professional learning. So, what are some evidence-based ways to address this need within collaborative learning, planning and practice? RPPL (Research Partnership for Professional Learning)'s new report explores what works so teachers can: ✅ Strengthen teacher-student bonds ✅ Transform classroom climates ✅ Support student well-being and success Explore the findings: https://hubs.la/Q03M47rV0

  • Jim Short writes for The 74 Media, “Just as science of reading research revealed the importance of phonics, fluency and comprehension working together, research in science education shows that students learn best when they engage in designing investigations, analyzing data, constructing explanations and solving problems that are relevant to their lives. The key is districtwide implementation of high-quality instructional materials and curriculum-based professional learning that integrate these practices with rigorous science content.” 🔬Wondering where to start? America's science education crisis isn't just about scores—it's about students losing the joy of learning science Only 29% of eighth graders are proficient in science (down from 33% in 2019). But here's what really concerns me: student enjoyment of science has dropped 10 percentage points in just five years to 42%. Meanwhile, STEM jobs are projected to grow at double the rate of other occupations, with median pay exceeding $100,000. We know what works. Schools using OpenSciEd are motivating students to learn science. But too many science classrooms still prioritize memorization over exploration, treating science as disconnected from the real world. The literacy field showed us the way forward. The science of reading movement transformed instruction by identifying research-based practices and creating proof points that drove wider adoption. We need the same for science education. In an op-ed published by The74 this week, I make the case for a "science of science education" movement. Take a look to learn more about what's working and what we need to scale. Let me know what you think. #ScienceEducation #STEMEducation #EducationReform #TeacherDevelopment https://lnkd.in/ejyiumvS

Middle school teachers, upper-grade teachers—this one’s for you. I’ll be in Chicago next week at the 9th Annual Reading League Conference, presenting “The Writing–Reading Feedback Cycle.” If you’ve ever wrestled with student writing that’s unclear, disorganized, or lacking precision, this session will show how the key to stronger writing often lies in returning students back into the text—then moving them forward with intentional scaffolds. And that’s just one piece of what this conference offers. The Reading League brings together practical advice, cutting-edge research, and the best kind of colleagues—the ones who push, sharpen, and celebrate our collective work! Hope to see you there! #TRLCONF2025

Falling in love isn’t just about people—it’s about purpose, growth, and the work we choose to give our energy to. We are in the season of Fall—a time when change is all around us. We’re reminded that change is natural, necessary, and beautiful. Leaves are letting go, the air is shifting, and we are seeing how beautiful transformation can be. As leaders, we ask others to commit, to stretch, and to believe in possibilities that aren’t yet visible. That same call is true for us: Fall in love with the everyday grind that makes real change happen. Fall in love with the small wins—when students are growing. Fall in love with the process, not just the outcome. When we fall in love with the work itself, obstacles look different. They stop feeling like pushbacks and start becoming opportunities to push harder, dream bigger, and do better—for our teachers and our students. And just like Fall, the work keeps changing us—showing us that growth is both necessary and beautiful. #liveoutyourpurpose #fallinlovewiththework #coachingwithheart
