✨ Are you ready for the September surge? ✨ I've heard mixed reviews about hiring in the 4th quarter this year, but here's my take. We typically see a bump in hiring at two points during the year: ➡️ February–May when budgets are done and headcount approvals are in. ➡️ September–November as everyone starts shaking the summer vibe off and year-end approaches. During the earlier part of this year though, that bump didn’t happen. Uncertainty in the markets saw companies holding their breath to see what happened. This turned into a steady summer for hiring, but not nearly steady enough to make up for the pause. So I'm thinking this September surge is primed to be a big one. If you're contemplating a job change, here's your checklist to prepare: ✅ Get the resume ready – but consider this a living document. Keep the bullets comprehensive so you can easily tailor it to the job. Looking at the job description, pick and choose which ones to leave off or re-order so the most relevant duties are at the top. ✅ Brush up your LinkedIn profile – Put a nice picture up there. A headshot is great, but don’t be afraid to use a more casual photo (just keep other people out and no sunglasses or hats). Make sure all your company logos are appearing. Create a summary for each role and have an appropriate heading (often your title and company). ✅ Get a spreadsheet ready – Have columns for company, title of the role, and date you're applying. Add every application here, and make sure recruiters don’t send your resume to companies that sound familiar without checking. ✅ Start engaging with a select number of recruiters – Look for recruiters who specialize in your vocation and location (didn't even mean for that to rhyme, but I’m feeling it). All of this can be daunting — but there’s help out there. If you don't have time for steps 1–3, I highly recommend Haley McNeel Drake at the Career Revisory. My focus is on accounting and finance in the Boston area. Happy to help with step 4 for anyone in this area with this skill set. 🍀 Happy hunting!

We built our business on the premise that personalized relationships lead to better match making.  The reason Landing Point's been so successful over the past 10 years is because we prioritize uniting companies with candidates through shared goals and values. That's it. That's our secret sauce. If there's one thing I've learned over my career as a recruiter it's that when you invest time actually getting to know both sides - understanding company culture, candidate aspirations, career goals - good things happens. Better matches, greater alignment, higher success rates. #careerchange #recruiting #careers #jobhunting #financialservices
