  • We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with @heb and @texanbynature to plant #TreesforTexans in our community!🌳 With this partnership, we’re connecting communities to nature with opportunities for hands-on conservation. That means WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!🗣️ If you’re interested in joining us for a community tree planting alongside H-E-B partners in Weslaco, tag three friends you’d like to volunteer with! #OurTexasOurFuture

  • Connecting South Texas One Ride At A Time! Thank you for the great partnership.

This morning, our Transit Director, Mr. RJ Garza, along with members of the El Metro staff, proudly attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the new transit connection between Rio Grande, Zapata, and Laredo. Mr. Garza had the honor of addressing the Zapata community, highlighting the importance of regional transit connectivity and encouraging residents to take advantage of the new opportunities by riding Valley Metro and El Metro when visiting Laredo. Together, we’re building stronger connections and expanding access for all South Texas communities! #ElMetroTransit #ValleyMetro #ConnectingCommunities #PublicTransit #LaredoTX #ZapataTX #RideWithUs

  • Ribbon Cutting Celebration: Willacy County Express Launches! The LRGVDC in conjunction with Valley Metro, Willacy County, the City of Raymondville, the City of Lyford, the Town of Sebastian, and the City of Harlingen gathered to celebrate a major milestone for Willacy County, the launch of transportation services that have been long overdue. Congratulations, Willacy County! This new service is more than just a ribbon cutting, it’s a powerful step forward in improving the quality of life for our rural communities. Rural transportation is essential. In South Texas, where distances are great and options are few, reliable public transit can mean access to school, work, medical care, and so much more. Across the U.S., rural areas are key connectors in the transportation system, but here in the Valley, we face unique challenges that demand creative and committed solutions. Many families in our region are burdened by the cost of vehicle ownership simply because they have no other choice. With this new service, Valley Metro, under the leadership of the LRGVDC, continues its mission to connect communities and fill in those critical service gaps. Our long-term vision? A Regional Transit Authority that can expand initiatives like this across all counties we serve, which include Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, Willacy, and Zapata Counties. Let’s keep pushing forward, together. Let’s advocate for stronger funding, smarter solutions, and an equitable transit system that lifts up every resident in the RGV. Here’s to a more connected, mobile, and united Rio Grande Valley.
