The team at Scientific Anglers recently celebrated 80 years of fly line innovation and production in Midland, Michigan. Associates gathered with industry partners to mark the milestone with a special event—and a bold new addition to the building: a 124-foot custom mural, now wrapping the exterior of the facility. The vibrant artwork was created by renowned muralist Aaron Chine and stands as a tribute to the brand’s rich legacy and continued presence in the community. Just over a year ago, thanks to the efforts of Jeff Pierce, Scientific Anglers was named the Official River Stewards of Midland’s City River Corridor. As part of this ongoing commitment, team members conduct two in-river cleanups each year—removing debris directly from the water, not just the surrounding land. Their hands-on efforts make a major impact in preserving the health of this vital waterway. Thank you to our Scientific Anglers team for honoring the past, investing in the future, and protecting the waters we all love. #Orvis #ScientificAnglers #celebrate #preservation #conservation #flyfishing

Many thanks to our friends and partners at Trout Unlimited for this reminder. Knowing when to fish often comes down to water temperature—most species feed actively within an optimal range. In extreme heat, fish become sluggish and retreat to deeper, cooler waters, and if the water gets too warm, it’s not only harder to catch fish—it can also stress them out, making catch-and-release riskier. #Orvis #flyfishing #fishing #onthewater #summertime #staycool

Happy summer solstice 🌞 🐟 As summertime sets in, remember to use this handy chart and carry a thermometer to know when it's safe to fish.

Our Outdoor Legacy Is Not Guaranteed. America’s 640 million acres of public lands—from our National Forests to Bureau of Land Management landscapes—are the foundation of our nation’s outdoor heritage. These lands are home to the best trout and salmon rivers, critical big game habitats, and the wild spaces where generations have learned to cast, hunt, and connect with nature. In 2023 alone, outdoor recreation contributed $639.5 billion to the U.S. economy. But right now, efforts are underway that could undermine the future of these irreplaceable resources. At Orvis, we believe access to public lands is a right worth protecting. We proudly stand with the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) to defend and preserve these lands for future generations of #anglers, #hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts. These places don’t protect themselves. Join us—and TRCP—in the fight to keep America’s public lands public. U.S. Senator Peter Welch recently visited the Orvis Rod Shop and manufacturing facility in Manchester, Vermont, for a roundtable discussion on the impact of tariff policies on local businesses.   The event brought together a range of Southern Vermont business leaders, including representatives from JK Adams, R.K. Miles, Mary Meyer Stuffed Toys, RAD Innovations, the The Vermont Country Store, Back Roads Granola, and others.   Participants discussed how recent changes in U.S. trade policy are affecting their operations, including rising costs for raw materials and components, supply chain disruptions, and challenges with pricing and long-term planning. Companies that rely on international suppliers shared concerns about adapting to policy shifts and managing customer expectations amid ongoing uncertainty.   Senator Welch described the roundtable as part of a broader effort to understand how evolving trade policies are impacting Vermont businesses. The discussion highlighted the need for greater stability and predictability in the federal trade landscape.   Following the roundtable, Senator Welch toured the Orvis Rod Shop with Director Don Swanson and participated in a fly-casting demonstration with casting instructor Peter Kutzer!   #Orvis #community #tariffs #Vermontbusiness #smallbusiness #roundtable
