Thank you to everyone who joined the Jackson Square Greenway Ribbon Cutting! Decades after highway plans devastated the neighborhood, we came together to rebuild. ICON is proud to be part of the team that brought this vision to life — a true celebration of resilience and collaboration.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Jackson Square Greenway! In the 1960s and 1970s, Jackson Square was devastated by plans to build an I-95 connector from the South End to Dedham. Grassroots mobilization stopped the highway, but not before enormous damage was done. Hundreds of homes and businesses were demolished. Over the past 25 years, JPNDC, Urban Edge Housing Corporation, TCB - The Cooperative Bank, and the Hyde Square Task Force have come together to rebuild Jackson Square into the thriving, affordable, and diverse neighborhood it once was. We are deeply grateful to Teronda Ellis, our CEO, Sheila Dillon, Chief of Housing at the Mayor’s Office of Housing, Thadine Brown, Director of the Community Preservation Office, Jeffrey Sanchez, former MA State Representative of the 15th District, Purple Rain, a proud Jackson Square resident, and Charles Hills, Jackson Square Partners Board Member, for sharing their stories and excitement with us. Thank you to the incredible project team who made this vision a reality: Nitsch Engineering, ICON Architecture, Deborah Myers Landscape Architecture, Matt Munkenbeck, and UMBRO & SONS CONSTRUCTION CORP. The Greenway represents more than just open space — it’s a celebration of resilience, community, and the power of coming together. #JacksonSquareGreenway #CommunityResilience #BostonNeighborhoods #RibbonCutting #AffordableHousing #UrbanRevitalization #GreenSpace #StrongerTogether

We’ve broken ground on the second phase of the YWCA Residences at Ingalls Court in Methuen! This phase creates 48 senior apartments, built to Passive House standards with solar panels, providing much-needed sustainable and affordable housing.
Exciting day in Methuen as we broke ground on Ingalls Court Phase 2, an additional 48 units of housing. Affordable housing is more than a building, it’s about giving families a foundation for stability, opportunity, and a better future. Thank you to Mayor "D.J." Beauregard, MBA, Congresswoman Lori Trahan, and our state representatives for supporting this critical project as well as our partners at the YWCA. Together, we’re making a real difference for the Methuen community. #Groundbreaking #AffordableHousing #CommunityImpact #Methuen

We’re proud to celebrate the Fitchburg Arts Community! Once empty schools and city stable, these historic buildings have been reimagined as affordable homes and studios for artists in the heart of downtown Fitchburg.
The Fitchburg Arts Community shows what’s possible when we come together to solve our housing challenges while honoring our history. This once-empty school and city stable right in downtown Fitchburg have been transformed from empty eyesore to source of city pride. Today, they are 68 vibrant, affordable homes for artists right next door to @Fitchburg Art Museum in a downtown in the midst of an amazing revitalization. This development is a true showcase of the power of people working together over many years toward a common goal. Secretary Ed Augustus was proud to join NewVue Communities, Mayor Sam Squailia, MassDevelopment, Fitchburg Art Museum, Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC), MassHousing, Sen. Ed Markey, Congresswoman Lori Trahan, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Reps. John Cronin and Michael Kushmerek and so many partners to celebrate this incredible transformation yesterday. A proud moment for Fitchburg. 💙

This summer we were fortunate to have Adriana Cedrone on ICON’s team for her second summer internship. A Boston native and recent Wentworth graduate, Adriana contributed to a variety of housing projects, gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to design places that people truly inhabit and find joy in. She found it especially rewarding to know that our work helps create homes—spaces that are both functional and meaningful. Adriana now returns to Wentworth to pursue her Master of Architecture, bringing with her a passion for designing spaces that have real impact and environments that not only serve people’s needs, but can adapt and grow with them.
