Last month, Insight Chicago lit a sign that signified more than just a medical establishment. It signified a chapter in the story of our city, a chapter of kindness, compassion, and determination. We rallied behind a cause to make sure that everybody has access to the best patient care. We might have a long way to go, but with our hard work, tenacity, and persistence, we are sure to make a difference and restore hope for many. Insight Hospital & Medical Center is proud to honor its historic connection to Chicago by unveiling a plaque commemorating the birthplace of Pope Leo XIV. The plaque marks the site where the first American Pope was born, formerly known as Mercy Hospital, and celebrates the institution's enduring legacy of service to the community. The new plaque, located in the hospital lobby, was dedicated during a special ceremony attended by hospital staff, as well as community and faith leaders. The event highlighted how the hospital's mission to serve the most vulnerable continues to this day. Saturday, August 23 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. 2525 S Prairie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60616 This free community event is designed to help families prepare for the school year with essential resources, including back-to-school health services, free backpacks and school supplies, and access to local support services. Enjoy a fun-filled day with free food, music, games, pony rides, a petting zoo, and more for the whole family. Free parking will be available on Prairie Avenue. We hope to see you there.
