Connect with us at #CppCon2025! Stop by our table to chat with engineers, grab some swag, and learn more about the work we do in performance-critical C++. Don’t miss HRTer Robert’s talk on September 18 at 9AM: “std::execution in Asio Codebases: Adopting Senders Without a Rewrite." He’ll walk through practical ways to modernize async systems without rewriting them from scratch. Check out where and when to find us here: https://lnkd.in/ehmiZA_x See you there! About us
At Hudson River Trading (HRT) we are mathematicians, computer scientists, statisticians, physicists and engineers. We research and develop automated trading algorithms using advanced mathematical techniques. We have built one of the world's most sophisticated computing environments, and our researchers are at the forefront of innovation in the world of algorithmic trading. HRT’s founding partners graduated from Harvard and MIT with degrees in computer science and mathematics, and founded HRT in 2002. Armed with programming skills and sharp quantitative minds, the founders hypothesized that by applying a fresh take to trading stocks, one that truly leverages the power of technology, they could meaningfully impact a world still dominated by manual operators. Very quickly, their algorithms saw success in the markets and HRT grew from their origins in US equities to a global, multi-asset class trading firm. Today HRT employs over 800 brilliant minds from a variety of disciplines—from highly technical to deeply mathematical to the liberal arts. We are critical thinkers and eager automators, chasing new solutions to any problem we encounter. We trade on nearly all of the world’s electronic markets, and are a leading voice for fair and open markets. Our internal code of ethics far exceeds the expectations of the regulatory environment in which we operate. We are conscientious market participants advocating for fair and transparent markets for everyone. This philosophy influences every aspect of our research. Please be aware that HRT emails will always come from the @hudson-trading.com domain; a genuine offer document will not be signed by a recruiter; and HRT will never request your personal banking information or payment of any kind during the recruitment process. If you have received what you suspect is a fraudulent offer or suspicious communication with HRT, or if you have any questions, please reach out to security@hudson-trading.com.

At HRT, we engineer large-scale infrastructure to power our research. One example is Blobby, a new distributed filesystem, designed in-house for high-throughput, durable, multi-tenant storage. Our newest #HRTBeat post explains the technical tradeoffs, how we avoid data loss, and why we invest in custom infra to stay ahead: https://lnkd.in/edx3E4rv #DistributedSystems #InfraEngineering

For the second year in a row, we welcomed the NYC++ community to our HQ for an evening of advanced C++ conversation and connection. This year’s featured speaker was Bryce Adelstein Lelbach, who leads programming language design efforts at NVIDIA. Bryce shared insights into the future of GPU programming models. Thanks to everyone who joined us, and to NYC++ for continuing to bring together C++ developers of all backgrounds to share ideas and build community. 🧡

Why wait for imports you'll never use? Python@HRT recently completed a firm-wide rollout of lazy imports, a major performance upgrade to our internal Python ecosystem. This post walks through our implementation of lazy imports, the migration headaches we encountered, and the wins that made it all worth it — from faster CLIs to lighter distributed workloads. Read about how we optimized import times in a massive monorepo: https://lnkd.in/g6Vw7m6a #SWE #PythonatHRT

Across our NYC and Singapore offices, interns are spending the summer sharpening their analytical instincts, honing their coding skills, and tackling some of the hardest problems in quantitative trading. As we celebrate National Intern Day, hear from intern mentor Kristine on how our training programs accelerate that learning. Internship applications for 2026 are now open. "What I loved about IOI was the moment when everything clicked—the elegance of a hard problem solved and that green '100/100' on your contest page. Here, the work is similar, but there’s no official solution. No one knows the answer. You’re the one charting the path, and when it works, you’re the first to ever get there." To mark the 37th International Olympiad in Informatics this week, three Algorithm Developers reflect on their path from IOI to HRT. We're proud to support this year’s IOI and the next generation of problem solvers. If you’re attending, swing by our booth to meet the team! #IOI #IOIBolivia #CompetitiveProgramming

That's a wrap on #ICML2025!⚡️ Thank you to everyone who joined our talk on foundation models in trading, where HAIL Researcher Marc explored how we’re scaling deep learning to meet the demands of noisy, ultra-fast markets. And of course, a special shoutout to the HRT team for bringing the energy all week long. 🧡

There are many reasons why members of HRT AI Labs (HAIL) show up ready to build. Huge compute. Ridiculous latency targets. Fresh coffee. HAIL Researcher Marc is here for the undefined problems. If you're heading to #ICML next week, catch Marc as he continues this conversation at “Foundation Models for Automated Trading,” on Monday July 14 at 8 AM PDT. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/ePFw_fqq Throughout #ICML2025, we’ll be at booth 401 – come say hi!

HRT — operating across time horizons, geographies, and asset classes — generates petabytes of data. HRT AI Labs (HAIL) harnesses it into high-performance deep learning models optimized for speed and scale. HAIL builds systems that adapt to changing signals, withstand adversarial behavior, and perform reliably in volatile conditions — and they have to do it faster than everyone else. Opportunities to apply deep learning at this scale are rare. In the words of HAIL Algo Dev Jack: “There’s only one way to see the systems we’re building: Join.” Learn how: https://lnkd.in/e-P6SDWy #MachineLearning #ML #DeepLearning
